Are there any details out yet about any of the plotline for the first episode? I saw somewhere online where it said the series will open with a 3-part episode (sounds a lot like Avatar: The Last Airbender) but I didn’t really see much beyond that. I’m wanting to know if the Mutant Invasion was sudden and unexpected or if the ThunderCats were aware of the dangerous Mutants and if there might have been problems with them for years prior to their invasion. AGH!!! I want details!!!
We’ll most likely have to wait till Comic Con, or the weeks before.
With the way Slithe said, “How quickly things change for the cats” in the Wondercon trailer I’d be willing to bet the Thundercats have been having trouble with mutants previously.
Actually, from everything everybody’s talked about on here, I’d think the reptile men are probably thier revolting slaves.
I still disagree with that. The ONLY character with slaves you see is Grune. And he is hardly the best example of Thunderian ethics. Having slaves would go against the Code of Thundera.
Are they slaves? Or are they prisoners? Back in the day, prisoners were made to work on “chain gangs” they were allowed to leave prison to do work. They were chained (hence the name) so they couldn’t escape, and there were law officers there to monitor them. Maybe that will be the case in the new series. Grune takes a chain gang out and either uses them as slaves, or uses them to lead a revolt.
Actually, the code is justice, honor, truth and loyalty… nothing there about freedom, equalty, liberty, etc 
Maybe “justice” could apply, but not necessarily if society considers it “fair” to make slaves of your enemies.

Plus I don’t think the code is limited to just a couple words.
I don’t like that theory for two big reasons. First, in the trailer, we see the Mutants attacking with a mighty army equipped with weapons powerful enough to take down the ThunderCats. That’s not a slave revolt, slaves wouldn’t be that well equipped and it’s highly doubtful they’d be that organized if they were a mob of slaves revolting. Second, it’s like balgus said, it would go against the Code of Thundera if the Thunderians have slaves. It would not be justice and it would not be honorable.
The only thing that bothers me about the reptile Mutants being prisoners is that there are so many and it would seem weird for the ThunderCats to imprison an entire society. Unless, by chance, there were only a small number of these reptile Mutants who were prisoners, I would imagine Slithe being one of them, and Grune secretly plotted with them a plan to overthrow the ThunderCats, obviously Grune seeing himself as Lord of the new society in which he would create with the Mutants help. Grune would free Slithe and the few others who would then regroup with the rest of their people to stage the attack.
Wonder if Grune reveals to the Mutants that the ThunderCats have a weakness to Thundranium and that those fireballs we see thrown at the city are actually full of Thundranium. That would make a whole lot of sense to me based on what I saw in the trailer.
I think the first episode will show the Kingdom of Thundera, and how it is ruled, possibly with a flashback or someone explaining about the defeat of Mumm-Ra as shown in the first trailer in the wood carving.
I think we will also see Grune’s double sided character in this as well, on the one hand being a loyal member of King Claudus’ court but secretly plotting with Slythe to overthrow the current regime and look to take control for himself, the ending of the first episode which i believe is a 3 part episode will probably end just as Slythe and his Lizard Army attack Thundera and leave it on a cliffhanger as to how are the TCats going to get themselves out of this mess.

it’s already a 3-parter. I doubt it’ll be a cliffhanger. that would just make it a 4-parter. lol
sorry i meant a cliffhanger at the end of the first part, i thought we were discussing the 1st episode which in my mind meant the 1st part of the 3 parter, sorry if that wasnt clear from my earlier post

Makes me wonder if they’ll make the first episode completely original or just a remake. I think it should be original, like the 2002 He-Man series. =D
Hi MoonJackal. I’m sure it will be original considering in the new series, Thundera is a kingdom on Third Earth rather than a distant planet. So that format is changed. In the new series, Mutants invade Thundera. I don’t think that’s how the planet was destroyed in the original but I don’t think they ever said what caused its destruction in the original.
The sword of Plun-darr caused it’s destruction in the original. It was dropped by someone (Ratilla I think, but not sure) down a cliff or something and dropped to the planet’s core and it’s energy destabilized the planet or something.
Do you remember which episode that was?
It was “ThunderCubs Part I,” and it was actually Jaga who threw it in in an attempt to destroy the sword. Nice job breaking it, Jaga.
