Yes, although I wonder if there were other incidents that happened in between Jaga tossing the sword and Thundera’s demise, such as plagues.
The first thought I had when I read that is that Mutants are ruined ThunderCats. Kind of like Orcs are ruined Elves in Lord of the Rings. Now that would be an interesting twist.
The way the trailer was set up, I think that Grune is the one with the mutant slaves. Just the way they do that shot of him with his arms folded - I don’t know, it feels like he’s standing looking over watching them work. That big (green?) shell thing is probably some prize that he’s been searching for, and he’s using the slaves to get it.
For all we know though, that could have all happened some time earlier and might only be used to set the storyline. Maybe he was the one responsible for getting set up with the advanced technology? Maybe Grune is responsible for Thundera being destroyed, with some grand betrayal and him being tied to Mummra..
From what I understand Mumm-Ra might be Trapped into that pile of stone They’re carrying.
I’m thinking Grune brings the Big chunk of Thundrillium to Thundera, everyone celebrates cause maybe they were having a shortage or something, The mutants attack, And the attack somehow awakens Mumm-Ra from his stony prison.
Those are both interesting theories on Grune. He and Jaga in the original series were once friends, wonder how that will play in the new series.
It did seem to me in the trailer that Mumm-Ra seemed to emerge out of a pile of rubble. It would be interesting to me if Grune plans on using the Mutants to help him take over Thunderia but they accidentally unearth Mumm-Ra who foils Grune’s plans with his own. Just a thought.
I actually don’t think Mumm-Ra is trapped inside the big rock/chunk of thundrillium, but rather that his trapped underneath that big twisted tree that’s in the middle of the arena, since he appears to be standing on it in the trailer.
I wouldn’t put slaves pass the new Thundercats… I don’t they would enslave an entire society, but I don’t know if anyone remembers the wondercon coverage, but they had mentioned the different class systems. Those Thunderians with tails for example may be considered a lower class member. Would slaves be that much of a difference? I doubt the cartoon would label them slaves but maybe a workforce class? Prisoners of war?

Slavery goes against the Code of Thundera. But to take a look at reality, just because there are moral codes does not mean everyone follows them, even within a society that holds to a moral code.
Since it’s been stated that within this kingdom of Thundera that there is a separation of classes and that Thunderians with tails are looked down upon and considered low class, it doesn’t seem beyond me that slavery could at some point exist. In fact, I could see there being a lot of social problems within the kingdom. It would be realistic with the fall of a nation that had become the world power. Rome fell in a day and they had been the world power.
And if that were so, I could see that Claudus may have followed a pattern of mistakes of Lords before him and Lion-O being thrown out into the world may gain a wisdom that his father and those before didn’t have.
The ThunderKittens apparantly have tails, meaning they’re lower class, not Thunderian Nobles. Obviously they are going to join Lion-O in his quest and my assumption is that he won’t see them as servants. Although it would be interesting if he did at first and that view changed. That would create a whole new interesting dynamic in itself.
Larry Kenny described Lion-O as the learning experience in the original ThunderCats. I imagine that will be true in the new series. Lion-O will grow up really fast, he’ll gain great wisdom that his father likely did not have, and will become a powerful Lord of the ThunderCats who will re-establish his people under a new perception.
I find it hard to articulate my thoughts about this fully in words. :tygra:
Noticed Something in the trailer
There seems to be a tech discrepancy. The first part of the trailer, the Lizard men seem to be using primitive weapons. The next, when Claudius is leading the charge, they have rifles, and Mechs. The ThunderCats on the other hand, seem to be in between. They have mental and stone work, but I don’t see any high tech on their part. This could be a theme of the show, One of the Spirits of Evil is “Technology” or reliance on technology.
Any thoughts or ideas?
fantasy and tech is supposed to be around 50/50 from what the people on the show say. Both sides have both.
Don’t forget the Thundertank.
There’s also stuff we haven’t seen yet and hopefully that will clear things up a lot.
I wouldn’t think so because the ThunderCats use technology as well. ThunderTank, Space Boards, Tower of Omens. In the original series, their technology was far better than the Mutants. It would be weird if they changed that. I did think it interesting to see the Thundercats riding some kind of creature. In the original they only rode vehicles or ran.
I don’t see how having a tail makes someone a lower species, unless they’re monkeys or something. But a cat’s tail helps them keep their balance, so it’s an advantage. It seems that in this and many fantasy/sci fi evolution means evolution towards more human forms, which I think is crud. Why would creatures from different lineages evolve the same as us? Stupid snobby thunderhumans :lionomad:.
