I believe that there are more of these out there than people realize. I understand that this forum represents a fraction of the collectors out there but it seems like it may be the highest quality fraction, with large collections.
The poll - I do not need to know who you are, i don’t want anyones email getting clogged up with offers, I would just like everyone to answer the poll honestly, so we can get an accurate snapshot of how many are out there, even if just on the forum.
I don’t and i am not planning on buying one in the future. I’ve already laid down my personal philosophy towards collecting Thundercats and Tongue A Saurus just doesn’t fall to my prefererences.
I voted for MIB, but I own two. 1 is loose and was played with. The other is still in the original internal packaging, but the box seal has been broken.
Not sure how to vote…I have a Tongue-A-Sauras boxed with all internal packing, catalogue, instruction sheet etc.. however the box has one of the flaps torn off (how I got it many years back)
Would this count as MIB, as the toy itself is MINT? or loose?
I have two, one loose and one mint in box with outer box opened but inside untouched and still wrapped. I’ve seen 6/7 for sale (4 boxed, 2/3 unboxed) in the last 3 months from various places in picking up the two i have.
I have seen 3. there is an MIB for sale for 2k…there was an MIB on eBay for 549, and the loose one from the UK went for 488, this was in the last 40 days
Personally, I don’t see the point in graded something that is boxed as you will never get to see whats inside. Even though I suppose most people don’t open the box. Its not the same as grading a carded figure as you get to see it fully displayed in the acrylic box. Also i’d be worried the box would get crushed or to get an empty box back with a pair of old shoes inside if I sent it off for grading
Though I’m still debating whether to sell all my MIB items I have (Mumm-Ra’s Tomb Fortress (never opened) Tongue-A-Sauras, Thunderclaw (never opened) and Astral Moat Monster)
This is kinda the reasoning for me considering the sale of some of the above items…Mumm-Ra’s Tomb I have a loose set (so will never open the sealed box) and same with the Thunderclaw.
Astral Moat Monster has never been set up (although box is opened), but I could get a loose figure of that and be content. I’m not sure I’m bothered about a loose Tongue-A-Sauras…
See, I don’t mind having it sealed as much as i mind someone giving me their opinion of what condition my MIB Tongue-A-saurus is in when they have not seen one for reference before…I would never take this out of the box so having it sealed in acrylic is ok by me, it become more art than anything else…[COLOR=“Red”]just my 2c
Why be afraid of this when neither you or anyone you ever sold it to would know since the likelyhood of anyone ever opening a graded boxed figure is probably right around 0%. Would it really make a difference, and would you ever open it to know 100%??
I’m not so much afraid of it but I suppose your right, what you don’t know doesn’t hurt you. I noticed a cats lair on Ebay that was AFA graded but the acrylic box has split on the seam so contents can be seen. I have a couple graded figures, but would rather keep the boxed items as they are, unless the boxed item is originally factory sealed so won’t be opened in the first place.
Has anyone had any experience with UKG grading, I want a couple figures grading but shipping to AFA makes it expensive as I’m in the UK. Are they as trustworthy and do you thing they add the same value to a figure than AFA does?
