Pretty much the latter. No one has any concrete numbers on how the toys are doing.
In the absence of sales data, all of our speculations have no basis in fact about the success or failure of the Bandai toy line. I know about the other thread dealing with discontinuation and I don’t know if that is proven or not.
If parties in the normal commercial world were negotiating a deal for a services contract, they wouldn’t tell the outside world what was going on, or make any representations to that effect, until the contract was fully integrated and agreed upon by all parties. Meaning that until the deal is done, mum’s the word.
You have multiple parties to any season deal here - Studio 4C, Bandai, WB, CN, etc. plus their high-level employees and the voice talent, who may have individual contracts that need to be worked out. Until all that business is resolved, you’re not going to get a definitive announcement either way.
It would be irresponsible for an employee to say “yeah, we’re on for another season” or “yeah, it’s cancelled” when that has not been the final decision yet. That kind of statement can bind a party and create problems later on. I advise we wait and see.
Exactly!!! Well said!! And in the absence of any concrete information, I think it best to stay positive and assume that another series will emerge, and the toyline will continue!

We have to keep the hope alive. 
I was aware that Dan Norton was somehow involved to the Thundercats relaunch,especially in the Comics Industry and had shown a keen interest for the show but i wasn’t aware he was such a big fan and nearly for a decade he pursued,almost single handedly, and did everything possible to bring the Cats out of the fridge. The creative force behind the NS is Dan Norton and while listening to the interview i couldn’t be more happy he was assigned to this job by Sam Register, also i think we would have even better results in the art direction if Joaquin Dos Santos was on board but unfortunately he opted for Korra.Anyway, the presence of Norton does credit and a big part of the success is owing to him.
It looks likes the Thundercats have had quite of an Odyssey until they finally made it 2 years ago , to be in production. Many people rejected it or didn’t think an old show of the 80s in limbo had potential 25 years later. The main thing which i conclude from his interview is the love and passion for making the show and that every member of the creative team surpassed himself to meet the demands of an amazing property.
Kudos for Dan!! he was a die hard fan mesmerized by the show in the 80s and he mentioned at that time he somehow knew he’d be working on it in the future.I definitely agree with him that the potential of this show is so huge that it would be a shame if we wait for another 20 years…
No major questions were brought up concerning the future of Tcats and why we have come to this predicament, particularly if you think that last summer the original prediction was picked up for 52-episodes story arc and as Mr.Zelenic had stated ‘‘We need to tell the whole story in this arc’’. I believe the fans deserve some clear answers and some topis should be hard pressed to the people in charge. Apparently something has gone astray for the production to be on hold and a big ??? about the continuation or not of Season 2. We are still hanging in the balance.
I am seriously thinking of comprising a list of critical questions for the production team or a WB representative to keep in mind and answer. I’ll pass this ideas to the Team Staff and see if we could reach them. Let me know what you think guys.
However, i’d be blinded if i didn’t notice that even Mr. Norton was kind of vague about Season 2. He was talking in the past tense about the Series and after listening to all what he said,if you read between the lines, the conclusion wasn’t very promising or hopeful.At least i got this impression.
First of all, I didn’t get that impression at all. The past tense everyone keeps clinging to in my opinion was referring to the past season, which they have finished and IS in the past for them. If you had just finished one section of a project, you would be speaking of it in the past tense too whilst taking a break, even if the next section is forthcoming. When you have started the next section, THEN you would refer to it in the current tense again.
Everything else however I completely agree with. If you want to comprise a list of questions or demands to WB or CN about Thundercats, and make it from the site, with a lot of signatures attached, I think that will have more weight than if we all do it individually and could possibly lead to a concentrated campaign to show the execs how much the show is loved, and I will be happy to help/contribute if I can.
I’m in! I really wanted to ask him my own questions and we could potentially develop a good list to ask him. I don’t think we should force anything too critical on him, though.
ThundercatsLair has previously done a fans list with their questions pertaining to the Hard Hero Statue products which where answered by Rob Pots. Also Jerry Macalusso, PCS owner, gave us an interview answering the fans questions.
I think it would be a nice idea to compile a list with major questions gathered from all the forum members and see if a represantative would be kind enough to aswer them.I just want to hear your thoughts on that and then i’ll pass the idea to the rest of the Staff.
About Dan Norton’s interview i understand the need for optimism but the facts are there. And they only speak the truth.
1)Production for Season 2 hasn’t started.
2)once they get the green light it will take about a year.
3)The production team is grind to a halt.
4)They wait for further orders/instructions. Unknown when and if they will get any any time soon.
I deducted the above from Dan’s speech. If i have pointed out something wrong please let me know, but it pretty obvious the present state has been stressed clearly.
There really isn’t anything negative there. They’re obviously just waiting for the queue to start up again. At least we know it is not cancelled.

He pretty much can’t say that it’s continuing ahead (or isn’t) until the decision has actually been made.
Yeah, we know. It’s just asking what has possibly gotten in the way of it happening.
Ah I misunderstood. Yeah I’d like to know that as well. We’re all assuming it’s the toys, but we don’t really know for sure.
Considering Bandai is actually doing their job now to promote it and is releasing wave 2, I don’t think it’s the toys.
Lordore, you are not wrong, those ARE facts, but there is nothing negative in any of that.
- True, but that doesn’t mean it won’t at some point. They have only just wound down for season 1, and are taking a well earned break.
- Well of course, quality takes time. I am as impatient as the next man to see it, but will be happy if they take their time on a quality product.

It may not even be that, it could just as easily be that there is a lunatic in charge of the money who has no concept of quality or what a good cartoon is, or even that CN want to put the budget into their pet project shows that coincedentally ALWAYS get a lot of promotion regardless of how crap they are!
And regardless of their awful ratings in comparison to ThunderCats.
Micheal you know that “this break”.. They have had that break since long before the show started (most of them anyway). Maybe some sketches and tryouts for scrips have circled around but not more then that.
Though, they probably have had other jobs now when the show was airing.

But we all know now that the ratings is not the most important factor.
Especially the voice actors. Kevin Michael Richardson is in everything ever animated plus the others (minus a few) have roles in other cartoons/shows/whatever.
I’m assuming they’ve been on break since a little after the pilot episode. So hopefully they’ll get the green light and begin to work again.

True, but most of their pet shows get such horrible ratings most of the time I wonder why they even keep them on.
