@EyesWideOpen I couldn’t agree with you more. I was peeved (along with Cheetahrific and I believe another person) about something Mr. Norton drew of Cheetara. At that time, (and I apologize for me being crazy less than a year ago to the fan comic staff) I was having problems with BDD/OCD because of medication being used for depression, which made it worse. That was a bad combo right there. But anyways, I even asked my mom what she thought about the picture. What I wished I did was I gather more data on FB to other girls and women what they thought. But my mom barely remembers the OS Cheetara when I asked her about it. She said “It offends me.” I even gone to ask if it was sexist and she said, “Yes.” A woman in her late 50s thought it was sexist! Yeah, it makes me still wonder. I think he did take down some of his art…or it’s in his scraps.
But on a side note, I do respect him as an artist and I wish him the best even though I disagree with the art direction and ideas he had for the series and characters. Just learn from your mistakes.
Very bad writing, they completely butchered the characters, it’s no wonder kids didn’t take onto the show, how could they like or want toys of such weak, boring unlikeable characters.
I’m not so negative about the NS… but your avatar’s series is a prime example of what SHOULD be done in a reboot: mostly based on the original hit series!
I can’t really comment on the 2003 series as I only ever saw a handful of episodes. I did like the episodes I watched, but at that time I was extremely into Transformers and some other lines and busy at college to really get into the 2003, but I do plan on catching up on that series.
can’t say i’m really surprised. disappointing though, and i blame most of it on the writing. they pretty much screwed all the characters i loved in the OS up, especially Cheetara.
I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but I agree with the fact that the new series had bad writing… I recall reading a quote from one of the writers that said something to the effect that they were ‘rewriting the backstory because the original series was too complex for kids to understand’ or something close to that. Personally, I find the new series much more complex than the original.

The Sword of Omens was useless until the War stone (Eye of ThunDera) was inserted, but the Sword of Plundarr had powers without any stone inserted, even though both swords are made from the same material - (Birth of the Blades)
Most of the backstory is covered in the first 2-3 episodes in the original series. The new series was still trying to answer important holes in the backstory up until the end of the series. Or at least that is my opinion of how the new series ‘simplified’ the ‘very confusing’ backstory…
I’m disappointed that the series is over, simply because the story is not finished. Just like Pirates of Dark Water or Dungeons & Dragons; I WANT TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS!!!
Other than that, I loved the show. I love the characters, I know they are not the same as the 80’s series, but thats the whole point; I recognise that this show is not necessarily meant for me, but a new generation. And I think that kids today just arent that interested in the 25 minute toy commercials that used to obsess me when I was a kid. And when interest drops, sales drop, money drops and s#*! gets cancelled. It has nothing to do with the quality of the writing. Kids dont care about that, only adult-fanboy-forum users do (this last bit is a joke people, relax)
I think all involved should pat themselves on the back for a job very well done. And if I had comically long strech arms, I would do it for them
I had a feeling the series would be cancelled when the toyline was cancelled. Well, what can you say? At least we tried, and got 26 episodes out of it. And it’s a good enough bet that the series would have ended like “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”: All the good creatures of Third Earth join Lion-O and his crew in reclaiming Thundera from Mumm-Ra and his legions. I’m guessing Pumyra would have redeemed herself by betraying Mumm-Ra and being killed for it. Lion-O would have taken a female from the Lion clan as a queen consort. Cheetara would have rebuilt the Cleric Order, like Luke Skywalker rebuilt the Jedi Order in the “Star Wars” tie-in novels, and I can easily see her marrying Tygra.
That’s a matter of opinion. It didn’t fail me, and I’d certainly reward them if I could.
@mcss I remember that, and I don’t think that’s what they meant. I remember they talked more about how in the original the Cats and the mutants were from different planets, even though they are all animal people, so I believe what they were talking about was giving all the animals a shared origin, which to me makes a lot more sense. I don’t think it being more complex makes it worse. It made it a lot more engaging, and the flashback episodes are some of the best in my opinion.
So you are here on the 2011 forums just to tell others that it is a fact it sucks? Such a troll you seem to be.
I liked this show for what it was trying to be. I loved the idea of their backstory and how the races landed on Third Earth but in most ohter departments they failed.
No I am no troll, sadly due to the ‘success’ of the NS we don’t have much else to talk about on the forum.
Also I never said it sucked. I just don’t get how anyone could think the creative team etc should be rewarded after the complete mess they made of the show and the toyline.
Because unlike you, a lot of fans don’t think this show was a mess, and we think it was good. Just check Tumblr on Saturday nights, or twitter for all the people who want a season 2 and get it trending. And a big reason no one talks about it here is because of people like you ruining it for the people who did like it. That’s why I visit this forum a lot less than I used to.
Whether or not you mean to trash this show, or how justified you think your opinion is, you’ve made this place unwelcome by saying stuff like “Lol, nope, you’re wrong, it’s a failure.” You can keep claiming how much you hoped this show would be good, and how you don’t mean to troll anyone, but it still drives fans away.
If you bothered to read some of the many posts I’ve made before, then maybe you’d understand why I love this show so much. Much more than most other shows I’ve seen. That includes the new TMNT, which, though good, I am not crazy about.
Whether some consider this series a failure or not I really have (and will continue to) enjoyed both the new and old episodes. I choose to focus on the positive and thoughtful posts here and thank those who contribute.
