Good for him! I would have left after they cancelled a show I had tried to make happen for almost a decade as well. I know you usually remain in contact with him, so make sure to tell us if he says anything regarding the series.

If he stays with on of the big animation studios, you don’t have many choices to go to… The house of mouse is literally right across the Ventura Freeway from WB Animation.
I applaud Mr. Norton, he cares for this franchise too much…we don’t hear much from Jelenic and Spaulding.
It would be amazing for Norton to leave WB, with good intentions to make a sales pitch to another company to acquire the license. Hopefully my man Dan would stick to the basics of the story and build on that if given a second chance 
This means that new Batman show probably isn’t going to last long. I’m hoping both it and the new Teen Titans shows don’t do well so they’ll have a reason to bring back Young Justice and Green Lantern. Then again, it’s Cartoon Network, so they’ll probably just get rid of DC Nation if that happens.
Last I heard the green lantern cartoon was cancelled because the toy companies wouldn’t even touch it because of how bad the green lantern movie toys did. If this is true then I doubt we will see a new animated green lantern series for a very long time if ever again. As for Young justice I am surprised we got a second season since didn’t the toys have bad sales as well. I wouldn’t have minded as much if Thundercats got cancelled after it’s second season because at least then we would have had some closure to the story and we would have got to see Bengali, Lynz-o(again), and a whole bunch of other characters as well. Oh yeah did anyone see the pencil drawing of Safari Joe on Dan Norton’s deviant art page. Well maybe when he leaves the WB, he can finally tell us some stuff like what was the final stone, what was Pumyra’s fate, etc.
I have to be honest, i’m a little bit worried about what i’ll hear when Dan Norton (eventually) tells us what Season 2 was supposed to be about. As my own fanfic would imply, i have my own idea for Season Two, and i’ve always tried to make it fit in with the real series’ canon.
Even if the series itself is “over”, any info about what the actual Second Season was going to have could still torpedo my ideas, especially if they come right from one of the people involved with it. I already saw the pictures of the “Bug Boss” and Safari Joe, and i’ve already considered ways to work that into my own canon, i’m hoping to do the same with any other information Dan leaks, but i just don’t know.
If I’m not mistaken Dan only did CG modeling work on Batman, but I’m not sure. He wasn’t the Art Director on that show like he was for Tcats, but I’m not 100% sure what exactly he did on it. I doubt seriously that he’ll go to another studio to try again for Thundercats. Frankly he doesn’t own the rights to the show. I believe the best we can hope for now is that he’ll release some cool designs and tell us the story they had planned eventually and hope that a new team starts fresh later on down the road.
It’s an irony that the series is becoming a really big hit here in Greece.
There’s even a Greek ThunderCats magazine and toys have been also advertised.

Yeah all the kids i had around my house cried for a while when i told them the new show is not coming back. The best i could do was to show them the original and some other things. Theý like it but it’s “not the same” as they put it.
But they are kids, in a few days something new has caught their attention
This is a lot like how the “He-Man” remake ended; too soon with loose plot lines that didn’t get wrapped up.

On a whim, I decided to stop by the forum again. It sure is a shame to see this. There were so many loose ends left and the series had a lot of potential.
It has been nice, but I guess I’ll have to move on to Riders of Berk…I mean, Defenders of Berk. Still wish they could’ve done one more season to add a definite closure to the series, though.
WB should’ve handed the NS to somebody who adores the “ThunderCats” franchise, not Michael Jelenic.
Except that’s not even the basis for it being cancelled at all.

I remember an interview where Jelenic said he wasn’t really interested in working on Thundercats at all in the beginning and planned to bounce to another project early on. His comments about not really knowing anything about Thundercats prior to starting on the reboot didn’t help my opinion of him at all either.

Seeing as Dan Norton’s comment and Daremonger’s comment share a common theme of creative difficulties it does appear that they have a better bead on the basis for cancellation than you seem to.
My basis as for why it was cancelled was that it did not sell toys and did not get the ratings CN wanted in its target age group. Whether or not this is related to the creative difficulties or not is up for personal judgement. However, I have seen other shows that have not had creative difficulties get cancelled on CN for similar reasons I previously stated, so I am inclined to believe that this is more of a habitual behavior than a special case. I have also read several interviews stating that CN does not want shows that do not sell merchandise. Once again, this could be due to the creative problems a show has, but is not always the case. The reason I think the toys didn’t sell is because of lack of advertisement on CN and WB’s part. After re-watching the series recently, I have realized these creative problems are present, but to solely judge a show’s demise based on the content within it, especially on a network that seems to only care about merchandise sales, does not seem logical.
I really have to agree with Daremonger and EyesWideOpen, CN picked the wrong people to work on the show.
Rather than make a show embracing all that Thundercats was, Jelenic and Norton manipulated Thundercats into the type of show they liked.
The NS to me never felt like I was watching Thundercats. It just seemed like some other series that was re-worked and passed off as Thundercats.
