Yeah i agree. It sucks it had to be a toy driven show but is not almost every “kids show” like that nowadays? I bet you avatar has toys or something else it sells anywhere.

Honestly, I don’t think they do. I’ve seen some shirts and a few other various merchandise items, but no toys.
There was Avatar toys based on the cartoon made by Mattel but as far as I know they only made about 6 different figures. I could be wrong but that’s is all I have seen.
Yeah they didn’t even have toys for Katara or Toph for the series but they had the (bad) movie version of Katara I beleive.
I loved the NS but it did puzzle me why make a show for the 13+ crowd but base toys on it for the 6-11 age range especially when kids doen’t even want toys anymore. If this show came out in the 90’s it might have been different but the people in charge must be stuck inthe 80’s or something to think toys were the way to go. Why didn’t they make more merchandise especially for older fans.
Well the toys Bandai made were terrible and had one of the worst, most pointless, useless gimmicks that wasn’t even related to the show.
A line of just detailed 6’’ figures might have done better.
It seems the whole ‘swords and sorcery’ genre of cartoons and toys ended in the 80’s. If you look at all the shows in that genre that came out in the 90’s to today they all failed.
The Avatar series DID have toy lines
I remember watching the commercial years ago on Nick. They are pretty good about advertising their stuff. But that’s because they have a studio, a theme park, and all the fancy stuff to afford advertising and promote all their shows. CN doesn’t have that kind of money to do that all the time. The toy line didn’t do too well, though. Hm…did they make them with lead-based paint? O_o

[WARNING: OFF TOPIC] Which is the reason why I believe it’s stupid to cancel stuff like Young Justice, which is statistically (yes, I’ve checked) CN’s 3rd or 4th most popular TV show not including movies and specials. Its toyline failed and it still continuously gets near or breaks 2 million viewers, which is about 500,000 more than shows like Level Up, Incredible Crew, MAD!, Ninjago, and others get. The only shows I’ve seen beat it lately have been Regular Show, Adventure Time, and occasionally Clone Wars, which is probably due to it switching to Disney next season.

They get a lot from high ratings. Higher ratings means more advertisements are being watched. Therefore, the advertising spots become more expensive during that particular show’s time slot.
The series may be “over”, but as long as we can watch the 2011 episodes online, make discussions for them and write fanfiction for the reboot, there will always be a need for this forum.

I’ve discussed the hell out of the series, and a lot of it seems like a bunch of broken records. Fanfics can help, but I’ve only found maybe 1 or 2 that have been decent.
Hm…I wonder if CN has been dire afraid of WB shows, or other studios, overpowering theres…ugh! If that’s the case, then stop being a freaking leech! Generator Rex was aweseome, and they took it down when the freaking season was almost over. I still hate you, Circe Oh well, boycott CN until they have decent shows back on there.
It’s not a matter of CN getting decent shows back on, it’s a matter of them keeping them on instead of always cancelling them.
It’s been a while since I’ve made a post on the forums, and quite honestly, I’m sad to hear that the NS got cancelled.
Much like everyone here, I wish that they didn’t use the excuse of being on hiatus, when the show was presumably cancelled. What saddens me is that this series had a lot of potential to be as good as Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Sometimes I think that Cartoon Network has a backwards logic, when it comes to actually producing a show and hoping that they could market it with toy sales.
A show doesn’t always have to have a toy line to prove it’s actually worth hanging onto.
Dan just announced he’s leaving WB Animation tomorrow. Hopefully this frees him up to let us know the rest of the story they had planned at least.
