Okay, I just got back from California for training for my new job. I’m a little tired and jet-lagged, but I read the whole thread and wanted to offer my two cents on this whole thing.
First, is Gold Lion right in that CN might have sabotaged the NS ratings? I don’t know. And neither does he for sure. That why he said (and Gold Lion, I think maybe it wouldn’t have hurt to have emphasized this more as I’m about to) [SIZE=7]“MAY HAVE.” [/SIZE]
[SIZE=3][SIZE=2][SIZE=2]I reiterate, we don’t know for certain. But it’s plausibl[SIZE=2]e.[/SIZE][SIZE=2] TV network execut[SIZE=2]ives are a weird bunch, and as [SIZE=2]Gold Lion[/SIZE] pointed out in that link he provided, [SIZE=2][SIZE=2]t[/SIZE]hey’ve done just as bad if not worse[SIZE=2]. And [/SIZE]I wouldn’t put it past CN if that’s what they in fact did. But we have no hard pro[SIZE=2]of. We have only guesswork. And what some others have pos[SIZE=2]ited is equally plausible. The truth of the matter is, though, we won[SIZE=2]'t know anything until someone [SIZE=2]truly in the know comes forward and tells us. But I’m personally not holding my breath on that.
[SIZE=2]On some ot the other stuff like DC Nation[SIZE=2]. Again, a lot of those the[SIZE=2]ories are plausible. But we can verify nothing. [SIZE=2]The Milestone theory sounds interesting, but I could have sworn DC bo[SIZE=2]ught out Milestone a log time ago, and that they no longer exist as a separate publishin[SIZE=2]g entity. Besides, a lot of those character[SIZE=2]s were created by Dwayne McDuffie, and he [SIZE=2]had been working with DC for at leas[SIZE=2]t a decade up until [SIZE=2]his untimely death. So I would think that he had negotiated something with DC a long time ago. One has to wonder if he had not died, [SIZE=2]that t[SIZE=2]his whole situation could have been avoided and something could have been quickly worked out.
[SIZE=2]The whole situation with Beware the Batman is [SIZE=2][SIZE=2]equally[/SIZE] plausible. Fans [SIZE=2]reacted with either indifference or [SIZE=2][SIZE=2]contempt[/SIZE] for the show almost as soon as it was announced. And [SIZE=2]things got worse when it was reported that [SIZE=2]further changes were [SIZE=2]being made in the wake of the Aurora shooting. In that respect, I can see where CN would think the whole [SIZE=2]enterprise would be FUBAR at this point and just want to scuttle the show as quietly as possible.
[SIZE=2]Again, and I [SIZE=2]reiterate[/SIZE], we can only guess[SIZE=2]. The real truth may be far different.
[SIZE=2]I think however that there may be some merit to the idea of WB starting its own animation chann[SIZE=2]el. CN clearly has [SIZE=2]different plans [SIZE=2]than what Warners would want.[SIZE=2] It should be remembered that CN is technically still part of Turner Broadcasting. [SIZE=2]Warners may want to take a page from Hasbro, then, when they started The Hub so that they can make [SIZE=2]channel of their own where they call the shots. It’s worked out well for Hasbro so far. To wit, M[SIZE=2]LP:Fi[SIZE=2]M[/SIZE] has become a cultural phenomenon at this point. And while the higher-up as the Hub may not [SIZE=2]fully comprehend the w[SIZE=2]hole Brony phenomenon, they don’t di[SIZE=2]scourage it either and realize that having that fanbase there works for them on some level. I think the folks at Warners would love to be able to harness the power of the fanbase in that way, but their current relationship with CN prevents them from doing that.[/SIZE][/SIZE][/SIZE][/SIZE][/SIZE][/SIZE]
