Also, that semi-horrid new comic t ouched on it a bit, but a more interesting story on the origin of the sword of omens would be cool, but not needed. Is it the ancient spirits of Thundercats that give it it’s power? If not, how does it obtain it?
I’d also like to explore Mumm-Ra’s enemies a bit. Zaxx Factor was one of my favorite late season episodes…a guy like Ra has to have allot of people after him, and could provide more worthy adversaries than Cracker… I didn’t care for most of the non Mumm-Ra enemies in Season one, but they got a bit better afterward.. The Moss Plant on New Thundera, for instance was a great episode.
Oh, and get RID of the circus train. Interesting idea to get rid of characters, but a horrible way to end once fearsome villains..
These are all GREAT ideas, everyone! I totally agree with all of you. Hopefully, WB will listen to us and take it into consideration. After all, why change an already perfect equation with Thundercats?
I’d like to see that, too!! We already know that Claudus is the name of Lion-O’s father, but what about his mother? I was thinking Leona. Anyway, I’d like to see the origins of his parents and how they raised Lion-O before the destruction of Thundera.
Perhaps they had a group of nurse maids to care for Lion-O since Claudus was Lord of the ThunderCats and his mother was by his side defending Thundera from their mortal enemies.
It seems the only nursemaid Lion-O had was Snarf, And Jaga seemed to mentor Lion-O because Claudus was busy elsewhere. As for Lion-O’s mother, I’ve seen her called Liona and Lionas. Long ago I came up with Lionella and Lionilla, but both names don’t sound too hot now. Did she die in the battle in which Claudus lost his sight? It’d be interesting to find out.:bengali:
Zaxx Factor was a good episode. If they screw up Thundercats I’ll be so pissed. It’s such a good show already, and making a new series with the wrong ingredients just spoils the charm. The designs need to be good too though. I want to see some new locations. A Time Travel story could be very interesting. Lion-O would have to hide his true identity from his parents and the Thundarians to save the future… It could be the series opener. It could re-introduce the characters in a five parter or something. Lion-O could be thrust back in time by Mumm-Ra or the combined forces of evil or something like that and have to find a way to return home, while at the same time keeping his true identity a secret. That would be pretty awesome I think. Claudus could discover Lion-O in the woods one day, sent back in time by Mumm-Ra or something… It’s just a thought, but I think it could definetely work! Instead of remaking the series, which wouldn’t last long, try and re-invent the series by a method similar to this… And Jaga, the one from Lion-O’s time, could appear to him giving him a riddle to solve on his own to get back home, without the help of the other Thundercats. And of course the other thundarians/thundercats would be introduced in that past, as they did exist then. That would kick butt I think. And that way we can (hopefully) see Lion-O’s family, and maybe even lost siblings or something. What do you think?
i hope they do make a new series but try to keep it as close to the original as possible, but to be honest the original was drawn and produced so well i don’t see the need for them to redo it at all. But i am sure if they do it will be fine.

I agree. Good user-name! I think the circus train doesn’t really need to be elimenated. It wasn’t THAT bad, was it? I mean it was kind of annoying, but the producers put it in, and therefore there was nothing we could do about it really. Oh well. Such is the course of life, I suppose.
You know, I didn’t mind the Circus Train all that much, but I did think it seemed sort of anti-climatic to have the Mutants (and especially the Lunataks) get caught so easily when the Thundercats spent years battling them.
Yeah i guess that was kinda wacky lol. But i think the Animation was fantastic and when you compare it to some cartoons and animation it would beat alot of things out there today hands down.
And you gotta’ love the casting as long as they kept the cast the same as well all would be good, (permitting of course some of them are not dead [R.I.P is so]). But yeah i guess that is one thing that could be worked on more.
Just to let everyone know, the Cartoon Network Upfronts are this coming Wednesday. Since Toy Fair has begun and it looks like no ThunderCats announcement has been made, it’s unlikely any news is going to come out of it.
The Upfronts is where networks announce new programming and while it’s unlikely we’re going to get any information on ThunderCats, I think it’s something that shouldn’t be overlooked.
It appears so far that nothing has come up. I don’t know anything about toy fairs or “upfronts” but I can guess that nothing significant has occured quite yet. But we should always keep our fingers crossed. Expect the unexpected. Never lose hope, no matter how futile something appears. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover…
I’m still not entirely convinced the new show/toyline is just a rumor, despite the absence of Thundercats at Toyfair and the “upfront.” The toyline could still be unveiled at one of the summer conventions, with the show announced later for a midseason (February 2008) release. It seems very odd to me that Lion-O and Mumm-ra rejected character designs showed up on the Internet last August, but we should expect nothing to come aftwerward. There’s no doubt in my mind that Warner Bros. or one its subsidiaries is working on bringing back Thundercats - it’s only a matter of time when official news breaks.
I just wish Warner Bros would go with another studio, their in house animation has declined in quality nover the years. JLA, and Teen Titans were the last of the decent bunch.
If there was a new series, they should have it made overseas in Japan, and have Funimation handle the the post production work. I have been nothing but bleased with them. Look how great FullMetal Alchemist turned out, or DBZ.
I highly doubt it’s a rumor as well…I’d rather they take their time polishing up the series instead of rushing it and having it become crap. I believe that we are going to eventually get a new series…it’s not a matter of if, but when we will actually get something.
If this Toyfair didn’t have the 'Cats there in any form, then it does become a matter of “if” as well as “when”. If the whole thing comes to nothing, I’ll be happy with the original series as well as any fan fic I read or write.:rolleyes:

It’s been a while since I popped in, and I thought I’d come here (the place to end all 'Cats discussions) to see if the rumor was true about a new 'Cats series. Looks like there is an internet buzz!
Now, I hafta admit - that anime image of the new Lion-O is jarring, but in a good way. As a classic fan, I would like to see the TCats in a somewhat “original” form, but if thats not the case, I dont think I will get all freaked out.
As long as a new series is done well, I would watch, as well as pounce on any new toy line. :pumyraveryhappy: Can you just imagine a new Thundercats series? Woo!
I guess you can look at it that way, but you have to realize that this particular rumor said NOTHING about toys…so why would it be announced at Toy Fair in the first place unless there were toys to be announced as well? Reason why I’m saying it’s “when” and not “if” simply because if an animated series was announced at Toy Fair, it would only be because there is a toy line, which the only thing we know of is that WB is shopping the license for ThunderCats…nothing more. Now if the rumor was about a toyline and we had no announcement at Toy Fair, then I’d probably agree with you.
SDCC is more of a free-for-all. I know that the recent MOTU cartoon was announced not at Toy Fair, but at SDCC…I would know, I was there for the panel where they showed the first footage of the series.

Those rejected drawings belonged to a former artist who used to work at Warner Animation Studios. He was in charge of drawing “concept” art for a potential relaunch of the ThunderCats about two to three years ago. Again, the artwork that has been going around the net has nothing to do with the current rumor. This current rumor originated from several places, of which I have noted somewhere on my PC.
I’m actually thinking about making a FAQ thread to help organize where all these rumors are coming from and may be sort out the confusion it is causing.
