Hey gang, wanted to float an idea by you all. Partly a promotion idea, partly a content idea.
Thought we could have a small section on the site for video clips from the show that are hosted off-site (kind of a viral videos thing). Some of the best, most classic moments from the show.
I think we all generally agreed that hosting full episodes would be a nightmare not to mention the legal implications. We might put some of these videos into specific episode review pages, along the same lines as the screencaps.
It’d be promotional because when people look for T-Cat clips, our site name can be either on the video itself or in the profile/writeup of the video contributor.
I think this would be an excellent idea, I agree with all your comments - I believe WB are cool with the legality of short videoclips from the series being made available (for, let’s face it, these things can function as an advert for the DVDs!), so I would say go for it!
I’d love to feature video clips in the Episode Guide pages - I’ve already spoken to Angie about including soundclips, if there were video clips to be added as well, I’d be on that like cheese on a pizza!
And yep, I agree that something like YouTube can be an amazing promotional resource - I believe Neil has already loaded up at least one video to YouTube that gives this site a plug, some more as per your suggestion, Mark, I think would be great!
Unfortunately I don’t have the software on here to capture these things, but hopefully someone here will do!
WB doesn’t seem to have a prob with the clips I host, so I don’t see a problem there. It’ll save you some bandwidth, too. The multi-media files are the biggest drain on resources for me anyway, so you’ll get that benefit too.
Holy thread revival, Batman #6! Just another annoying post from me to say I still think this would be a good idea - I believe TCL already has its own YouTube “account”, it would be great to add some more stuff to that as a promotional exercise, plus, I’d be all over some video clips for (ultimately) inclusion in the Episode Guide!
