The answer that for me has totally changed as I’ve grown up. I was only about four when I first started whatching Thundercats. At the time Cheetara’s staff was my favourite because it was the easiest thing to pretend to have (e.g. picking up a stick in the park), then when I got my first Thundercat model it was Tygra’s whip because that was the first one I got. While I used to have a Sword of Omens I was never that kean on it - I mean, swords, well they’re just dull aren’t they? I mean, they’re just not cricket. lol
Even though they weren’t on the list however I must give honorable mention to:
a. Monkian’s very cool projectile firing shield thing (fantastic idea of an offensive shield - gives a whole new meaning to ‘the best form of defense if offense’… )
b. Pretty much all of the cool weapons created by Vultureman - partcularly a fan of the super power potion. Is it me or was Vultureman much smarter than any of the Thundercats (Panthro, Tygra) - they never managed to make such things as that?! ha ha ha
c. Mumm-ra. He doesn’t need any poxy weapons - he IS a weapon. Big Up the ra-meister ha ha ha
(Can you tell I always wanted to see Vultureman or Mumm-ra win - just once)
Not your traditional weapon, but I’ve always had a keen interest in the Book of Omens and its magical properties, weird language it’s written in, and so forth. That Guardian is one tough cookie as well.
The Sword of Omens is just epic. It literally ends up doing anything that is required of it by the end of the series. If I remove that from the equation I would seriously consider the Totem of Dera (not sure if its totally considered a weapon). The ability to heal as well as turn inanimate objects into powerful monsters is pretty enticing.
The Sword of Omens, plain and simple. I don’t like how its powers increased later on, but it’s pretty vital to the continued existence of the ThunderCats.
Tygra’s bolowhip, of course, with Panthro’s nunchucks coming close in second place (and Panthro was my leats favorite TC). Then Cheetara’s bo staff.
I think the SoO was pretty cool in its design, but it ruined it for me that it (combined with the EoT) turned in a deux-ex-machina in the second season.
Never liked the new TCs’ weapons really. The hammer? Completely useless IMO. The sling? Not really different from the kittens’ lasso and pellets. The shield? It was so small and rarely seen; a WTF weapon to me (ironically though, I used to expect a shield for the TCs during season 1).
I liked Monkian’s shield and Jackalman/Slithe’s axe; wish it had any special power.
I love the Sword of Omens, I am a sword a guy but not counting the sword I’d pick the Claw Shield or Grune’s Mace. The Claw has a lot of useful gadgets and Grune’s Mace because…Maces are awesome. I used one in Skyrim that I forged and enchanted and it was so powerful it could defeat any dragon, person or demon very easily.
I agree. Allowing the sword to turn into the answer for everything took much of the originality and excitement from the story. Still, if I am going into battle I am bringing the sword!
