Hee-hee, I disagree with most of your picks, optimus, but you have several there that I wholeheartedly agree with:
.) Vultureman’s Revenge. If this isn’t the worst episode in the entire history of the show, I don’t know what is. It merely drops multiple characters into a meandering plot instead of having a focused “A” storyline and its mirroring “B” storyline. When Wilykit and Wilykat first spot the obvious red Thundrainium cloud, Kit acts completely out of character and heads right for it. She and Kat then tumble down into a ravine and are confronted by a giant snake. Since in the story the Kittens have their magic pellets and lariats, you’d think they would try using them against the monster, but they act like they have no weapons at all; they run until the snake is charmed away from them by a flute-playing Wollo riding a donkey. And when Lion-O is faced with the frozen-over Wollo village and crops, he is utterly baffled until Jaga pops in to remind him to use the Sword of Omens - even after all this time!
). Dream Master. Not my favorite either. Mumm-Ra’s loud incessant drone of “Sleeping ThunderCat, I, Mumm-Ra the Dream Master…” gets on my nerves every single time. And the biggest error in the story is the idea of Mumm-Ra destroying the Cats by bottling up their dreaming selves. Nope, what he did was bottle up their souls, a vastly different concept from dream selves, so this episode should have been called “Soul Master”.
). Mandora and the Space Pirates. Again, not a good story. It suffers from slow pacing, bad dialogue, a stiff performance by Lynne Lipton as Mandora, and that old cartoon logic that says characters can breathe in space without spacesuits.
). Circus Train. The episode that commits the unforgivable crime of writing the Mutants and the Lunataks out of the show for good.
). The Mossland Monster. The animation is better than average and I very much like the older-younger brother relationship between Lion-O and Bengali (though I would rather it had been between Bengali and Tygra). What kills this episode, however, is Tygra being an idiot early on. A scientist of his caliber would have followed Lion-O’s suggestion to fly the Feliner around the meteors instead of through them. Sigh, but then there would have been no story if he had, would there?
). Catfight. Apparently, the Cats at the Tower of Omens didn’t notice the Tuska’s eyes glowing a sinister red. On top of that, he didn’t even say he was Turmagar, but Snarfer knew who he was without having met him before!
