Does anyone here own a Wii? If you do…
I recently bought one. I heard there is a way to download old Nintendo games from previous systems to the Wii via online? Does anyone know how this is accomplished? And does it actually save the games to your Wii so you can take it back to your tv and hook it up and play or can you only play if it’s connected to your computer to the internet?

I think there is a marketplace on the Wii where you can get the old games. But I am pretty sure you have to pay for them.
Assuming the Wii marketplace is similar to Xbox Live’s marketplace… You should leave the Wii connected to the TV just like when you are playing it and just connect it to the internet. I don’t know how the Wii can get internet access, Ethernet and/or Wireless. And you will probably need to buy a Wii points card or you will have to enter a credit card number that will probably be saved on a Nintendo server somewhere.

What mcss aerocoupe says is true. to get older games you have to go to the shopping channel and buy wiiware versions of what your looking for.
Unless you have a chipped or softmodded Wii anyway.
Isn’t chipped and softmodded consoles against the Terms of Service from the console maker?
I know if MicroSoft finds a modded Xbox connected to Live they will perma-ban it from their servers.
Never read the TOS actually but I would assume so. I didn’t tell him to go get one, just made a tongue in cheek comment.
Microsoft bans the modded console btw not the user, smart of them cause if you then wanna play online again you gotta pay for a new one. Not effective costwise for the wouldbe modder.

I know they only ban the console, never said it was the account. And yes it is a good way to make more money when users do stuff against the ToS.
This sounds complicated and I don’t have a way of hooking it up to the tv and have it be able to access the internet. Oh well.

Well yeah I could, but it gets kinda cluttered that way. 
Yeah that’s really the only (legal) way to do it. And the NES games are pretty cheap too.
Too bad there isn’t a way I could hook my old systems up to the Wii and download the game that way.
I don’t suppose you can play GC disks on the Wii can you? I know the GC discs are much smaller and the Wii discs are the size of regular CD’s and DVD’s.
Yes, they can be! You can use your GC controller and play them.
So I can actually put a GC disc in the Wii and play them? I just have to attach a GC controller? I don’t have to somehow hook the GC system up to the Wii with some kind of connector cable? Sweet.
Doesn’t the Wii have Wi-Fi built in? If so, you just need to have a wireless network at home. Or have a long Ethernet cable (can get them up to at least 50 feet long).
