This has always bugged me a little bit… Panthro his steel/blue in color. His costume, minus the obligatory TCat symbol) is varying shades of blue. But this is weapon is blue … and red. Why? That red chuck always stands out and seems just odd to me. Anyone else feel the same way?
And while we’re on the subject of Panthro… why does he have 3 inch spikes on his costume? Someone is going to poke and eye out on those things. Or at the very least he’s going to ruin the upholstery in the ThunderTank.

Those spikes have many abilities as seen in the cartoon.
Oh, yeah, I know they are a functional accessory, but I think think at some point Tygra is gonna blow his stack about having to re-sew the cushions on the ThunderCouch.
“Dang it Panthro, can’t you just take those infernal things off before you sit down to watch Skating with the Stars?? This is the fifth time I’ve had to resew this cushion just this week. I’m starting to run out of ThunderThread and you still haven’t fixed the ThunderSewing machine either!”
It has something to do with the weapon’s abbility. I think the blue one can fire ice and the red one can fire fire / flames.
It looks great. Probably design first, function later.
I think the red nunchuck is to compliment the ThunderCat insignia on Panthro’s belt so the blues don’t dominate and the character’s overall coloring is more balanced. 
As for the spikes on his suspenders, well, they’ve had me scratching my head too since there have been a number of scenes where Panthro sleeps in his costume. You’d think that every time he gets up out of bed he’d leave gaping holes in the sheets, mattress and pillows, but he doesn’t!
