There are so many loose Ben Gali’s but why are they still so expensively priced? and the same with carded versions. He’s a really cool character but who’s going to pay $1000 - $4000 for the privilege to own him carded?
The only ones I see on eBay right now are the AFA graded ones which supposedly makes it more valuable because it is encased in a protective case to prevent any damage during the grading process.
Overall, I would guess Ben-Gali is the most popular of the Series 3 figures and therefore there is more demand for the figure. But that is just my guess.

Bengali is high-priced as hell! There’s one AFA top graded now going on at e-bay, by a Greek seller,who by the way is not me!, for an exorbitant amount.
Probably because Bengali is at the top of the ladder in rarity and esteem by the fans.
The cost in Thundercats fluctuates,depending the period they are being sold. With the New Series at hand, every Thundercats product 25 years old will reach sky-high. However, if i am not mistaken i think a couple of monthes ago the same AFA Bengali was much cheaper
I think a person must have to be mad, rich or really want the figure to pay so much. And why do sellers re-list those extortionately priced figures time and time again? I personally collect Thundercats and vintage MOTU because they bring back warm and comforting vibes from my childhood.
I think all the series 3 are just as hard to get, Ben-gali is hyped as the main piece to getting the set and that has sustained over the years. Plus his white paint wears off easy so it’s somewhat justified but I agree not at those price, 200-250 for a c8 carded one and 50-75 loose complete in good shape. There are 9 US Bengali’s graded at 80 (I have one of them) and 4 85’s so there have been highly graded ones. I think the 80’s are worth about 500 and the 85’s 600-700 if anyone would realistically sell. Mongor and Safari Joe are as rare if not moreso than Ben-Gali in my opinion as well.
And these vintage carded toys are going to saw in price, even higher, soon after the new cartoon series is released!
Hi, it’s probably largely to do with the original selling patterns. Of the series 3 releases, it’s fair to assume the best sellers were Jaga, Bengali, Lynx-o and Pumyra. That’s fairly obvious because kids want the main characters. Therefore inventory may well have gone unsold for some of the other characters, leading to the source of many of our packaged figures today.
Certainly in Britain, towards the end of the line, you couldn’t move for Mongors. Hundreds of them, the same with loads of villains and minor characters. I only ever got one Jaga and one Pumyra. You’d just never see Lynx-o or Bengali in my part of the country. My guess is, when these came in, they flew off the shelves leaving the minor characters to fill the shelves.
My guess is, the new Bandai line will actually send prices down (at least in the short term). With classic figure releases, people are going to be more inclined to buy mint versions of the new toys for a few dollars rather than fork out so much for the LJN line (unless the line is hugely inferior). This should probably reverse after a few years as people yearn for the originals again. But I’d expect a short term dip.

If there is a huge price increase it will be like the oil bubble a couple of years back and burst shortly after. But I don’t think there will be a dramatic price decrease either. An 8 back AFA 85 Mumm-Ra recently sold for 500 so that is a good sign that there is a market at the top end, I thought I would steal it for around 200. I don’t recall a huge spike in the prices of G1 Transformers from the first movie or He-Man vintage going nuts from the introduction of the Classics line. It helps sustain interest and legitimize a hobby but I imagine the number of “new” vintage collectors will be balanced out by others selling off collections because of other interests, which seems to be a fairly steady cycle. And I think the people who will be new toys and statues are basically the same ones who are already interested in the vintage line and probably collecting already, with a few who will have some crossover appeal. If anyone is speculating on Thundercats (a side note: seriously, why is Thundercats an underlined in red word on this forum?!? lol) and stockpiling them for a future “up” market I would be surprised. But I could be wrong and wouldn’t be upset if Tuska and Hachiman mint on card become regular $100+ figures and you can’t find an AFA 75+ example of any character for under $200.
The market is already starting to get inundated with Thundercats products and over the next months the surge will escalate even further. It’s a good question though, that none of us can answer right now, if the interest for the old LJN toys will stay on the sidelines or follow neck and neck with the statues as well as the brand new figures.
I’ll gladly pay $50 USD for a loose one in decent condition…been looking for him for a long time…
The way I look at it is, vintage will always resonate and be at the very top of any fans collection. Its the prime example of the love for the franchise, Everything after wards (current rehashes) will be there but won’t be as appealing/sentimental or as special as something that was with you through your fondest childhood years.

One loose argentina for less than 50 shipped and one graded bubble is loose from the backboard but still 200 for the complete ben gali with packaging when loose with weapon seem to go around 120 to 150.

Dont count on thundercats going up in value as the years go by. Our generation grew up with them not the current or next generation of kids. When they hit our age they will be wanting those figures that are hot nowadays etc. As for Bengali theres no doubt there are some over priced toys on ebay, in fact now that i think about it, isnt there a laser saber bengali going for 6.5k ? I mean this guy needs to get real.

Id still like to think not… People collect items that were way beyond there time.. So there is a chance that they may stay pricey collectibles… I hope they do anyway..

I believe he isn’t that bothered about selling (thus the price), but wants to keep it up for fans to see (I guess keep interest going in the piece) It seems to be the only one thus far to survive and with no sites displaying it, without being up on Ebay some folks might not know it exists.
I’m sure the guy is on these forums and pretty much, this is what he had said.

I sold one a year or so ago for $3200 on ebay to a collector in Canada and someone is Spain claimed to have another one but as far as I know the only ones available are the one I sold and Robimus Primes one.
Also robimus has the only liono and mummra laser sabers but so signs on the Cpt C laser saber.
Now mad bubbler has been seen and confirmed Cpt C could be the rarest piece never seen???
