Who here has eBay? (Need to contact a seller!) :)

Hi all,

In my ongoing quest to provide our Comic Section with the very best material it can have, I’ve discovered these four eBay auctions of original b&w comic artwork from the Marvel’s US ThunderCats series - specifically, from (unless I’m very much mistaken) #21!

…Now, obviously there’s no way I will just swipe images without the owner’s permission - so, what I would like to do is contact whoever ends up buying these/winning those auctions and ask if they would be willing to allow us to add these images to our site!

Unfortunately I lack the funds to buy them myself or I would. :frowning: Likewise, I don’t have an eBay account, which (unless I’m mistaken) means that I can’t contact the seller/buyer of these. So, I was wondering whether someone here with an eBay account would be willing to get in touch with whoever buys these pieces on my behalf, asking if they could be added to the Comic Section of our site!

I would be happy to word the e-mail so that it’s just a copy-and-paste - all I need is an eBay user! If anyone here would be willing to help, LMK! Many thanks!

Take care, and thanks again!

I would but I will be without intenert access :frowning:

Chris here…

That’s a great suggestion - why didn’t I think of that?! Thanks, MannyC!

Take care…

I’d be happy to contact the seller for you Chris about using those images, but I’m not sure what his reaction will be since he is trying to sell them and would much sooner we’d buy

But if he says no, then it would mean contacting the buyer. As for the images themselves on the auction page, the seller owns them so if he says it’s ok then the eventual buyer really has no say on them as they are scans made and owned by the original owner (in this case the seller)

So just write up the question Chris, send it to me and I’ll submit it.

Oh, got your pm but thought it be easier to respond here

Chris here…

Many thanks for your excellent response, Neil!

LOL, I actually did mean that what I was intending to do was contact the buyer - in my haste I typed “seller” instead of “buyer” for the subject line!

No worries! Thinking about what you say, it’s got to be worth a shot contacting the seller before those images are sold - after all, he/she can only say no! So, I’ll get a question typed up, Neil, and will PM it to you - once again, many thanks for your help, you’re quickly turning into my right hand man with stuff like this!

Also, I’m on the trail of lots more comic art for display on the site, which may or may not come off - I got permission to use some more scans yesterday evening, I don’t know if you saw Neil but they come from the collection of a comic art dealer called Anthony Snyder. There’s a handful of lovely pieces there - MannyC likes them so much he’s talking about buying them!!

Take care…

That Ebay guy replied today. Here is his response:

Sorry, I no longer have even these scans, eBay is holding them. So I don’t think I can help you, short of going to a printer and then scanning over… I’m short on time. Again, sorry. -Tom

So it looks like it won’t be possible to get scans from him :frowning:

If you just want to save the images he hosted on Ebay, it sounds like he might be ok with that. Although due to their size, I don’t know whether those would be any good to you.

Chris here…

Thanks for LMK, Neil! Hmmmm, that’s a pity about those images, although would it be possible for you to get back in touch with him and ask if he would be comfortable with us saving those images from eBay in case they might be able to be made to work? Who knows, something is usually better than nothing!

Although, in the last 24 hours I’ve obtained donations of some comic art piece scans that will make those eBay ones look very small and insignificant…

I know, I know - I’m such a tease…!

Take care…

Just use them. I don’t think he will mind
