I didn’t mind the Lunataks so much as I disliked that the writers gradually turned them into comic relief, like they did with Mumm-Ra, Ma-Mutt, and the Mutants. Removing the Lunataks and the Mutants from the show was the biggest mistake the writing staff ever made. Granted, Mumm-Ra was the chief bad guy, but for all his magic powers, even he couldn’t take on the Cats by himself. He needed allies, and both the Mutants and the Lunataks filled that bill nicely when they weren’t being made to look like bumbling idiots.
Something which I also thought was more previlent in the second season.
I chose the 2nd season. I really loved it more when the new thundercats joined the bunch. Pumyra and Bengali are my favorite characters of the show. I’m stilled miffed that they left puymra on third earth. What a waste of a character.

I think I liked season 1 better. The episodes from the first season are the main ones that really stood out as a kid and to this day I find those stories more enjoyable. As good as season two was, I wasn’t too crazy about the new lair, some of the new characters and all the back and forth between planets. Although, the Humongous Mumm-ra in one of the last episodes was a GREAT episode! They really made him look vicious and the animation quality was top notch!
Yeah season 1 was darker.
Did anyone else notice the bottomless chasm wasn’t as big as it used to be in Season 2 – and also - they musta thrown some sod on there, cause it was a freakin lawn! lol
