I have not paid enough attention to say if I agree or not, but I have seen a few post on Toonzone about CN seemingly not caring about Beware. I remember someone claimed it seemed they were only going to push the episodes out because they are already made and paid for, but it looks (to the op of the post) like it wont last past the first season, and it will probably be CN last high end action cartoon for a while.
It was a post responding to the lack of effort they seemed to have when it comes to promoting the show, vs how they usually do things before a release.
Who knows. Batman sales. Maybe they just don’t see the need to talk about it, or get people excited about it.
Yet for some reason they absolutely adore Teen Titans Go, the WORST of the DC shows. It’s approval ratings and reviews are in the toilet but because they threw it in a prime time slot, it will always have decent ratings. However, I still can’t see it coming back for another season. They have died down pretty quick on the advertising of it (like ThunderCats and other shows). Besides being one of the only shows I’ve actually wanted to get canceled, it’s a prime example of what Cartoon Network thinks of DC and action shows as a whole. Someone is obviously forcing them to have these shows but they just want their low(er)-budget comedy stuff to succeed because that works for a certain age group. As I’ve stated in the past, it’s almost like they’re afraid to expand their audience, which seems like a pretty terrible idea.
And by the way, Beware the Batman airs next month.
They had a trailer back in 2011. That’s it. They’re basically killing the show before it gets a chance, which is sad even though I doubt I’d watch it anyway.
I just did a marathon of the whole Batman Beyond series. I can’t agree more. I think DC hit the mark with their cartoons from the 90’s through early this year (gee, wonder why :mad:). I’m assuming they’re pushing out lower-budget, lower quality stuff because they’re focusing on their movies. By the way, I’m going to the Man of Steel premiere and I’m stoked.

I always thought Brave and the Bold was a little childish but it actually did a really good job. I’m glad I re-watched it. I can see why people would have that back. It’s just like the Teen Titans Go situation where they have all the essential things to bring it back but they refuse.
I truly enjoyed Captain Marvel in BATB.
Of course though BTB toy sales were not great…due to the massive amount of Batman variants. I wish companies would stop making so many variants, aside from the main look in the cartoon how many more do they need? I could excuse 2-3 variants of the main characters if they were some what related to the cartoon. Even the new TMNT line has begun the onslaught of variants.
i might be the only one but i think it’s about time we had another superman cartoon series. i really can’t remember the last current superman series besides superman TAS in the 90’s. I’m not gonna count justice league because that was a team series. if only DC comics animation studio would give as much love to superman as they give anything batman related. i really hope Man of Steel delivers, so that we can have another successful DC comics trilogy.
i actually like the direction of this new Batman series. i don’t believe we’ve had a 3d based batman series before, if i can recall. i also like the fact that the character robin won’t be in this as well. although i respect the history of the Batman mythos, the characters of robin never logically made sense to me. i feel like it’s a compromise the Batman just wouldn’t make but it’s a comic book anyways so logic doesn’t really mean much.
I don’t think it would rally have mattered what the trailer showed as they wanted BATB to continue.
I don’t really watch Batman cartoons but what I have read of the new series seems good, but I dislike the art style.
I can’t say this idea is mine because another member touched on this, but they took the core characters and re-vamped them (which was great) but they forgot to add the Code of Thundera to the mix.
That was what differentiated the ThunderCats from the people they battled against, and there was absolutely no mention of it in the new series. The spirit was there in an undertones sort of way, but they ignored it (out in the open)entirely, and I think that was part of the problem all along. Without that core set of beliefs to guide them (with the book of omens taking its place) the heart was gone, and no amount of storytelling or drama is going to make up for it.
ThunderCats was also an entirely different creature than some of the other shows the producers had worked on. Avatar the Last Airbender was more old school ThunderCats than the 2011 re-make.
I was initially excited for the reboot at first, but it got boring for me. It took to long to reveal plots/characters. Mumm-ra (not flashback scenes with Mumm-ra were limited, I didn’t like the love affair/soap operISH scenarios, the background music wasn’t nearly as epic as the one in the original series, I miss Snarf talking, miss the Berserkers/Lunatics, and I didn’t like the whole community of generic Thundercats/Mutants. I didn’t even like it in the original when that was the focus during the last ten shows.
Music played a HUGE factor in the original Thundercats cartoon. Each character had a theme, every scenario had it’s own background music which sucked you in and the victory theme was awesome; All of that missing from the reboot. Also, I still have not gotten used to Wily Kit and Wily Kat with tails.
I completely agree about the music. I’ve heard different stories about the music though. I’ve heard that Kevin Kliesch could’ve used more of them, but chose not to, and I’ve also heard that they wanted to use more but couldn’t afford the rights to the music (though how you’d have the rights to the franchise but not the music confuses the heck out of me).
Personally I think that the story itself was aimed at adults with an understanding of the original series. They brought in several things for kids, and it just clashed too much with the apparent adult theme. Add that to the toys - no wonder kids lost interest. The story wasn’t fun for them, so why bother buying the toys no matter their quality. My nephew prefers the original series above the new one. Which not only makes the OS timeless, but shows that it had the right formula. I love the NS and enjoyed the risky changes, but they should’ve thought about their target market properly before hand. And kids like it simple. Confusing them makes them loose interest. But that’s just my two cents’ worth. (Just wish they’d made a Jaga, Pumyra, Lynx-O and the other mutants to complete the set! They raised our hopes and destroyed it with their ignorance!!) :lionomad:
