i wish Nickelodeon would’ve had the DC nation block instead of CN, then maybe YJ and Green lantern would have kept going. YJ season 3 would have potentially been the best season of the series.
Don’t even get me started on the YJ situation. Season 3 would have provalbumin been one of the greatest things to ever happen on Cartoon Network. The way they built up to Darkseid makes it completely criminal that there isn’t another season airing right as we speak.
when i heard the news about the cancellation, i was so ****ed off that i almost accidentally broke my laptop. i still can’t believe there isn’t gonna be a third season. i’m actually surprised that CN cancelled due to low toy sales.
It’s not fair to cancel a show based on low toy sales when it barely even focuses on toys at all. It’s like they weren’t told the merchandise was the only way for it to get renewed just so they could cancel it. It’s like closing a restaurant for not selling enough lumber: they weren’t even trying to sell it, so why would it gain profit? On top of that, YJ had high enough ratings to compete with (and overcome) the ratings of CN’s most popular show, a lot of which having very little to no merchandise.
Another thing I would like to add: I would have LOVED to buy Young Justice shirts, hats, and other awesome stuff. They should have marketed their merchandise more appropriately besides toys. With the new video game coming out, that’s a step in the right direction. But for christ’s sake they FINALLY released Teen Titans (not that new show s***) shirts last year.
Agree that they should’ve had more merchandise than just toys. They could’ve easily made some adult sized clothes and even kids clothing and sold it. The only adult ThunderCats shirts I’ve seen are from the OS. And even better would’ve been if they had been designed by Dan Norton instead of whoever did the (IMO) horrible box art for the DVDs and toys.
so the thing is, are we to believe that most of the crappy kids cartoons on CN that have been on the air years are doing well in toy sales?
The only show on CN that I know of that even HAS toys is Ben 10 (other than imported Anime).
Well Adventure Time has them, but they’re aimed more for collectors than children. And Adventure Time also has a ton of non-toy merchandise.
That’s what they would like us to think. Strange how I’ve never seen any Regular Show, Level Up, MAD, Johnny Test, or Total Drama merch anywhere minus the occasional DVD. And I can guarantee it’s not because they’re sold out.

Oddly enough I have an NS ThunderCats shirt. It was NOT easy to get but was not custom-made. It has the Dan Norton-style art on it and is honestly pretty cool. It would have been great if they would have made that shirt more easily available and also made others.
Do you have any images of it? I’d really like to see what they look like.

Completely true, but the newest Scooby Doo show just got canceled. Because of this, I’m starting to think CN just likes some shows more than others and just cancels the ones they don’t like.

That’s good. At least CN let them finish. I wonder if they realize they’re running out of shows and oversaturating the market with Adventure Time and Regular Show? Both of those shows are bound to end up like Spongebob: they’ll repeat constantly with decent ratings but will ultimately lose popularity and just die out.

Beware The Batman will probably be a good show, but will end up getting cancelled as well due to poor toys sales…after all this is what Mattel is releasing to support it. :eek:

In fairness though it is pretty accurate to the awful animation designs.
When they are making a cartoon to sell toys they should design the toys first LOL. Let the animators work from the toys instead of the other way around like they used to in the 80’s and 90’s.
I just hate that Michael Jelenic flanderized the all the characters in the 2011 “ThunderCats” show. :lionomad:
It isn’t “flanderizing” if it isn’t gradually changing over time. Most characters in the series started with the exact same traits in the exact same amounts they ended with. Were these traits exaggerated from the start? Yeah, but for better or worse the characters never really changed as far as becoming more like these traits or less.
