Not sure if this has been discussed before… but I failed to find it so here goes. 
What exactly is concidered TC cannon? I.e. only the episodes, the original comics, the post 2000 comics (continuation of the series).
I’m pretty sure the crossovers aren’t… (though i liked the art very much in all 3 of them :))
On that note a question for Chris: are the original comics (the 24 issues + 129 issues) the same as the series… or have I come to the wrong conclusions again?
well for me the main canon is the tv canon which is the thundercats toon since so much happend on that
I agree. The TV episodes are what would be considered the ThunderCats canon. The comic books, in my opinion, are simply other people doing their own take on the show.

Well, technically ThunderCats has several “canons” - the animated series canon (which is what most people would refer to as the definitive ThunderCats canon), the Marvel/Star Comics canon, the DC/Wildstorm comics canon, and so on. The biggest thing I’d say is that the various canons are all seperate, and so something that happened in the comics is not canon for the cartoon, and so on.
The only ThunderCats canon that really challenges what we see in the TV series is the UK comics - there were some pretty innovative ideas included in there, some of which I think worked, and some of which I think didn’t!

I agree - Cartoon is canon. Everything else is someone else’s rendition. No matter how innovative
I guess I was always falsely under the impression that the comics (Star US at least) had to be approved by RB before being produced.
It’s true that the classic series is officially canon and fan works based on it are their own canon.
I accept everything vintage as canon, as long as it fits in and doesn’t clash with the cartoon. EXAMPLE: Lynxana is a comic original character, but her story fits within the cartoon-universe and doesn’t contradict established storylines. The UK comics provide backstories (sometimes very silly) were the cartoon never did, so, again, as long as it fits, I’ll accept it or at least keep it in mind
As for the “modern” WS comics, I like them, but some of the more mature content, especially in the much discussed 5-parter ‘The Return’, feels more like fan-fic. But hey, to each his own.
It sounds like there is allot of original content in the UK comics. I am going to have to check them out!
I’d generally go along with that. Whenever I did fan fiction for “Visionaries”, I always asked myself, “would this story work as an actual episode?” If the answer was yes, then I’d go with it.
