With the push Cartoon Network is putting behind Thundercats, it seems somewhat inevitable that a game is going to be produced (even if it’s just a portable (3)DS/PSP/Vita/Download game).
Since the Thundercats have never had a game on a console (if I recall properly the only retail game made was for the Amiga / C64 generation of computers), the slate seems to be fresh.
So, what would you like to see? What other games would you like a game to riff on? What style of game would best fit the action and presentation of the new series?
I would love a Zelda-esque quest adventure game played as Lion-O, but that’s probably a bit too ambitious for a licensed game. But who knows? Maybe they’ll do right by it!
That being said there are different Ideas I’d like.
I wouldn’t mind a Fighting game. Something weapon based like Soul Calibur might be good and appropriate since each character has their own different weapon.
An RPG might be fun. That way it’s story based and you can fight as the whole group instead of just one character.
An action game is probably what they would go with. Something like the Ben 10 games groan But if it was actually done well It could be good (though lets be honest licensed games like this aren’t usually any good.)
maybe a 3d sidescroller like the old Final Fight games or the X-Men arcade game with multiplayer
or perhaps a game in the vein of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, where you have a small team of Thundercats going around fighting and you control one of them. again with multiplayer
of course there is also the 3rd person adventure game. while 3rd person adventure games are usually dedicated to a single character, it isnt unheard of to have different characters selectable or usable at different parts of the game
Something like that. It’s basically they took Golden Axe and made it thundercats. I like the idea of a Final Fight/Streets Of Rage/Golden Axe style game. Would be easy for anyone to get into as well.
I would like to see a combination Mirror’s Edge/Prince of Persia game set on Third Earth.
A fast paced parkour game between trees, with Prince of Persia wall climbs inside ruins and temples.
It should have a linear well told storyline, where you switch characters between chapters. Since different characters have different powers you might pass through the same areas, but snarf might be the only one able to get into the small duct, tygra is the only one who can sneak pass the guards, lion-o with shield is the only one who can pass through the energy field, cheetara is the only one who can run over the malfunctioning bridge of light. panthro is the only one who can activate the gate and the kittens are the only ones who can fly over the river of despair etc.
Lion-O features:
Fight with sword
Block shots with claw shield
Deflect shots with sword
Summon sword energy shield (Blocks all directions but can only walk)
Zipline with claw shield
Warning from sword when enemies approach
Using sight beyond sight at certain places reveals information
Cheetara features: (Bullet time is recharging supply)
Fight with staff
Block shots with spinning staff
Evade shots bullet time style
Bullet time while running fast
Area attack with spinning staff
Throw staff
Polevault with staff
Panthro features:
Fight with nun-chuks
Sleep gas (limited supply - loot)
Slippery marbles (limited supply - loot)
Repair/Control machinery
Martial arts manouvers (Throw people to the ground etc)
Tygra Features:
Fight with whip
Fight with gun
Trip with whip
Light small area on fire with whip (recharge)
Invisibility
Coil whip around enemy disabling it for a longer amount of time)
Snarf features:
Access narrow spaces
Overrun/Trip legs
Speak with animals
Reserved button just for saying “Snarf!”
Wilykit/Wilykat features:
Both are played at once, the inactive character does nothing but evade and find good opportunity spots, with a button you switch character and can attack.
Fight with pellets of different types (Sleep, Sticky stuff, Slippery stuff etc.. limited supply loot)
Wilykit has mesmerizing flute.
Hoverboard… if shot down will repair after battle.
Could prolly think of more stuff… But I would buy the game above… Someone go make it.
A Beat-Em-Up a la Golden Axe would proably work. Although I’d much more prefer an RPG. Maybe even something team-based along the lines of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.
Since NetherRealm Studios (the guys formerly from Midway who made Mortal Kombat) are now part of WB, I’d love to see them do a fighting game (though chances are to get that T-rating they’d have to water-down the violence, much like they did with Mortal Kombat Vs. The DC Universe.)
In all likelihood, though, it’ll probably be some kind of action platformer, which won’t be too bad if they decide to pattern the gameplay after something like God of War or Dante’s Inferno. I could easily see that. Let’s just hope that it’ll at least be decent like the Avatar games and not a shoddy cash-grab.
An RPG style game would be great. Being Lion-o or even another one of the Thundercats and having to trail along a storyline. And I want it for xbox or wii seeing I dont have a PS3 XD
I wouldn’t really want a fighting game like Mortal Kombat… my dream Thundercats game would be something along the lines of KOTOR, where you could explore all of Third Earth.
What would be super awesome would be if they made 2 games, a TCats Classic and a 2011 era TCats, both in the realm of a KOTOR type game!

What would I like to see in a Thundercats game ?
I’d like an RPG style game, but with the ability to play as the Thundercats or MumRa and co. A bit like Transformers War for Cybertron where you could play as the Autobots or Decepticons with various different characters through the levels. I think that would be pretty cool i.e. you could either be MumRa fighting Lion-O or vice versa in a boss fight.
But I guess we will just get some lame Ben 10 style video game, so I shall keep dreaming.
For a video game, I would like there to be co-op, up to four players. Online co-op would be cool, but that isn’t likely. Maybe the other characters can be AI controlled.
There could be stages for Lion-O, Cheetara, Tygra and Panthro, and then stages for the Thunder Kittens, but it would be great if all the characters could be in one stage. That might get a little too chaotic, so maybe it should just stick to four.
I’d prefer the genre to be action/platformer to take advantage of the characters’ agility and fast paced action. Similar to Legend of Zelda, but with more jumping. The closest game I can think of is Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. That had great gameplay and combat. Maybe Netherrealm could do a ThunderCats game like that. Tron Evolution is another game kind of like that.
It shouldn’t be straight action, of course. I’d want there to be plenty of exploration of all the cool environments and towns and stuff. We also need to be able to drive the Thunder Tank.
For an RPG, how about something along the lines of Dragon Age or Dungeon Siege 3. I think that would be fun. Or a Ninja Gaiden type game? Honestly I would like something where you could explore Third Earth.
