Today is what everyone has been waiting for… Today I’m going to talk about:
What would happen if a female Thunderian/human hybrid was the granddaughter of Jaga and would become Lion-O’s love interest and protector, it would definitely significantly alter the narrative in the following ways for both 1985 and 2011 version.
As Jaga’s granddaughter, she would likely inherit his wisdom, speed, and knowledge of ancient secrets, possibly even surpassing Cheetara as a mentor figure for Lion-O. Her connection to Jaga makes her an heir to the philosophy of the ThunderCats, often holding a high level of respect (or envy) from other, older members like Panthro… maybe.
As she would be grieving her grandfather while holding the burden of protecting the new king of thundera. She could assist in unlocking the deeper mysteries of the Sword of Omens, acting as a bridge between the Sword’s secrets and Lion-O’s developing leadership skills.
Let’s break it down to how this scenario could play out in both iterations based on existing lore of both:
In the 1985 Original Series Role and Relationship:
- Protector of the Sword:
Because she is partly human, she might have a unique resistance to Mumm-Ra’s magic, allowing her to protect Lion-O during his most vulnerable moments and also serving as a physical shield when his “child in a man’s body” impulsiveness puts him in danger.
- Emotional Connection:
Lion-O would have a direct, living tie to his mentor, Jaga, reducing his initial isolation.
- Relationship Status:
She would fill the void of a primary female lead, acting as a maternal figure/protector early on, which could evolve into a romantic interest as Lion-O fully matured.
- Interaction with Snarf:
Her presence might make Snarf’s role as nursemaid redundant, perhaps creating a partnership between them in caring for the young king.
In the 2011 Reboot Reimagined Lore:
The 2011 series already featured a more “gray” and complex world where Thunderians were more similar to humans, making a hybrid character fit seamlessly into the narrative.
- As Jaga’s Granddaughter:
In this version, Jaga is portrayed as an ancient, revered sage. His granddaughter could be a keeper of the secrets of the Book of Omens, acting as a guide and crucial ally.
- As Lion-O’s Protector:
The 2011 Lion-O is younger, more naive, and struggles with the weight of leadership. A protective, knowledgeable hybrid character would be a stabilizing force against Mumm-Ra.
- Relationship Dynamics:
She could serve as an alternative to the love triangle between Tygra and Cheetara. She could provide a more mature alternative to the potential romance with WilyKit. She would likely clash with or complement Tygra’s role as the second-in-command.
- Betrayal Mitigation:
If she were present during the 2011 series, she might have served as a foil to Pumyra’s betrayal, offering unwavering loyalty to Lion-O, potentially reducing the heartbreak experienced in the 2011 series.
- Strengthening the Alliance:
As a hybrid, she could have helped the ThunderCats integrate better with the inhabitants of Third Earth, enhancing their diplomatic efforts.
