Tygra seemed to disappear towards the end of the series. Does anyone know why his character seemed to have been written out?
He was on Third Earth keeping watch while most of the other Thundercats went to Thundera.
What was the last episode he was actually in?
he did appear in the mossland monster in season 2 of thundercats or some might say season 4, which was towards the end of the series i believe it was 126 or 125 to 130 so he made his last appearence then. however the thundercats on third earth werrent seen again i believe after crackers revenge w exception of tygra
I’d have to rewatch all the episodes to count how many he was out of. But I remember when I initially watched them through after buying the DVD’s that he was noticably absent towards the end which annoyed me greatly since he’s my favorite. They could have left Cheetara behind, I’d have been fine with that.
Disappointing, as he was my favorite as well, and I missed the second half of the series for some reason or another.

but yes in season 2 once the move to thundera was made he wasnt shown alot, but one thing i did notice is that when i last watched my thundercats dvds even in season 1 he was not involved as much as we think he and the kids were missing quite a bit:o

It baffles me that the kittens were out as much as they were since the target audience were kids around the same age as the thunderkittens. I like having the DVD’s, I can just watch the episodes that feature the ThunderCats I like that way.
If someone had to be left behind on Third Earth when the Cats moved back to New Thundera, I think it would have been nice if they had rotated Cats.
Tygra was last seen in season’s 4 “Mossland Mosnter”, when he visited New Thundera; that episode was #123 out of 130 (which means he was written off for the last 7 eps).
Before that, he was just shown briefly in season’s 4 5-episodes opening arc, “Return to Thundera”, but he only appeared in parts 1 and 4. So for most of season 4 (17 out of 20 eps) he didn’t appear.
Also, from season 2 on (starting with “Thundercats Ho!”), he was shown the least of the adult TCs, being written off in many episodes, and in others having mute appearences or brief lines (sometimes just one-line appearences)… which I preferred than not seeing him at all.
As I see it, he was really unfairly treated in the series from season 2 on (or even from the second half of season 1), the major insult (IMO) was not appearing in the series’ finale (along with Pumyra); it would have been nice to have them both there.

I think that way too… rotation would have been so much fair.
I mean, did they really need to keep someone in Third Erath? The Feliner was able to do it from New Thundera in no time, and there was the Councl of Good (or something like that) anyway.
It’s a shame they didn’t have messageboard feedback like now days because I’ve noticed a lot of Tygra fans around.
I begin to wonder if it wasn’t that the local station didn’t carry the second half of the series but that I stopped watching in disgust. Too many changes at once, like dropping chars I adore and adding in a bunch of new ones just throws me. Wouldn’t be the first show I quit watching because of something I considered substantial changes.
My best guess is that he decided to stay behind to do research.
Research on what? Third Earth?
I mean, they have lived in that planet for a while now. If any research had to be done, it was on New Thundera, and as the TCs scientist, Tygra should have been there.
It is upsetting that they have the ‘New’ Thundercats and gives them far more face time then the orignal stiped god of smexyness. Tygra was a noble, he had the past history and could hold is own pretty darned well. Yet they give Pumyra, Bengali, and Lynxo more rights from just being commoners to noble status. W. T. H.
Without Tygra they wouldnt have anything really. But still, he was written off. I just like to think that he was tucked away in his room, getting trippy on some kind of fruit or plant or something and saying “Screw yea’ll…its my time.”
Poor Tygra.
