Just like the title says. I’m curious what kinda DVD features would everyone like.
A lot of American cartoons don’t really get all that much in the special features department (though you do sometimes see some great stuff in anime releases), but since they’ve already shown so much production art and stuff I’m hoping there will be some cool stuff.
My Special Feature wish list:
Commentary (at least for the premiere)
Production art galleries.
Soundtrack (OS soundtrack would be nice too)
Cast and Creator interviews
A “making of” feature with Studio 4C would be nice.
Maybe some kinda video to honor the OS and show where this series came from.
Full length intro like the OS, but with the new animation
Sizzle reel of season 2 or some other kind of season 2 preview.

Anyway I don’t expect all that to be on the DVD (though I can hope lol), but just thinking out loud of things I think would be cool.
What would everyone else like? Is there anything I left out you would like to see?
I am not holding my breath for anything good. Cartoon Network DVD’s lately have been HORRIBLE. Just overpriced discs with 5 episodes and little to no bonus features.
If we where given a choice, behind the scenes recordings, composing the music, concept art and interviews.
I mean I know CN hasn’t had a very good history in their DVD releases. They like to milk them and release several small DVDs instead of a Boxed set. BUT the makers of Thundercats have already gone out of their way to show us TONS of behind the scenes stuff. They’ve already shown more than most CN shows do, so I still have hope.
Before the horrible “Cartoon Network Volumes” season sets where pretty damn amazing. The four season sets of the original Ben 10 where wonderful. Videos of the people behind it and tons of concept art. Come Alien Force that all went down the toilet.
Pfft. Like hell I’m paying 15.99 for five episodes, when I could pay 19.99 for 15 with extra features.
I’d even be happy with the Avatar: the Last Airbender treatment (boxed set wise, not feature wise. they were kinda slim on the features IMO). They could release 3 or 4 disks throughout the season and then when the season ends release a boxed set. Satisfy both the kids who will go in and be like “momma I want that!” and the Adults like us who would rather buy the whole season at once with cool boxart.
I have a friend who owns those boxsets and seems quite pleased. I’d settle for TCats getting that treatment. I just don’t want to have CN try to rip us off with the series. I’m freaking tired of that.
I’d expect to pay more for Thundercats Boxed sets though. The seasons are supposed to be double the amount of episodes Avatar had. Avatar only had around 13 episodes per season while Thundercats is supposed to have 26. We’d probably have to pay around what we paid for the OS Thundercats boxed sets.
Id like to see some cast interviews, commentaries, making of, as in drawing the cartoon, also some background features on concept design and things coming up with the new show.
also seeing cast do their lines, either during a recording session, or just adlibbing during an interview, for some reason i LOVE seeing someone do cartoon voices live, especially if they do multiple voices and they can interact with themselves as the voices.
Yeah I love that too. I remember a special feature video on one of the Legacy of Kain games where they showed some of the recording sessions. Also remember something like that in a Bleach DVD set. They’re always pretty fun.
Larry Kenney did Lion-O and Jackalman together and watching Peter Newman do Monkian was funny as well. That was probably the best feature from the OS dvd releases.
I would love an “Art of Thundercats” book. But dunno about that as a DVD special feature. Though maybe they could have a little Pamphlet like they have in a few Anime DVD releases.
If I could have something, maybe I would ask for maybe an original and current voice actor meet up and interview - maybe even a little character interaction!
Also, maybe even a Bernie Hoffer musical scoring audio track i.e. ‘Thundercats’ are loose during battle scenes.
Lastly, seeing as how their intro was limited to 10 secs, I would like to see the retro intro reanimated in the new style with original theme song.
