So what did you guys actually like about the new Thundercats series?
The enchanting creatures on 3rd Earth…Viragor was my favorite!
I liked some of Third Earth’s inhabitants, creatures and locations.
I liked…
the characters.
the character designs.
the creatures/inhabitants.
the weapons/tech designs.
the world itself.
the music.
the acting/voices.
pretty much this.
I liked the fact that the Lion-O on the new series has a lot on his plate.
I’d have to agree with this but I also want to add that I liked the general plot of the show a lot. When it was mainly focused on moving it forward, it did a decent job. There were just a lot of pacing issues and sidetracking that could have easily been replaced.
What’s been said already is spot on.
The backstories for the characters were well done and unique. The best part is each flashback changed the dynamic of the show, their relationshios and even how we looked at the characters. That flashback ep with Cheetara and Tygra is some of the best “feels” I’ve seen on television… animated or otherwise.
I also liked how the show felt like a great origin story that should have lead to them building their own base of operations out of the fallen bird structure and becoming the defenders of the realm while tracking the rest of the stones.
I like what you just said about the 2011 ThunderCats building their own base of operations.
Yeah, the story of the characters finding themselves and searching for clues has come to an end and now Lion-O realizes his role as a leader to unite the species against Mumm-ra. Having the Berbils help reconstruct and repurpose the fallen colony would allow the show to break free from the linear, journey arc into something more akin to the original series while still retaining the personal stories and revelations and of course the meeting of new (and old) species and inhabitants.
Here’s hoping someone else is more successful (please, no Thundercats GO chibi, comical variation…)

I’d enjoy seeing a version of “ThunderCats” that balances action and comedy while staying true to the formula.
The new series had a lot going for it that I like. The few flaws that I have gripes with are odd pacing and frequent badly written dialogues as well as acting. Sometimes the episodes would move quick, though not the whole story-arc which was too slow for me. The show had way too many fillers in my opinion. The show had the most forgettable soundtrack, barely anything that stands out. Well okay, the very first music cue that’s played in the pilot episode, it was a good piece. I think the composer should’ve just created a full orchestral composition of the original theme music.
What I love the most about the NS is essentially its new take. I like the new route they took. I was hoping for the Sword to have more of a divine sort of a birth rather than something hastily put together. Concerning Mumm-Ra, I have the love-hate thing going on with his character. On one hand, he was more menacing this time, but I didn’t like his tech-savviness though it didn’t put me off of him. Characters were kind of interesting, Tygra showed promise but his character fliped-floped a bit too much for me to like him. Surprisingly I’m not too fond of any of the Cats, I only grew to care what Mumm-Ra was going to do next :rolleyes:.

To answer the first question on this thread, I liked it when the new series showed WilyKit, WilyKat, and the elephants playing music in order to illustrate the concept of harmony. 
I find myself liking the themes the most, and the show’s different take on a main protagonist. I like how it builds Lion-O up as more than just a warrior, but as a leader who can bring the world into a new, more progressive era, bringing both his own people and others out of a dark age that had been filled with prejudice and racial tensions. I liked that Lion-O could use kindness to his advantage and didn’t just rely on fighting to solve all the problems presented to him, even if it did take some development for him to get there. That really resonated with me, and it’s hard for me to think of other characters like that. I just like that Lion-O is more or less active in spreading the message of tolerance and mercy, especially when Third Earth can be such a harsh place.
I also really like Panthro and the Kittens. I think they’re just incredibly charming characters and I love watching them. Tygra can be an ass sometimes, but even then I think his snarkiness can be kind of funny. Cheetara, well, she’s okay. I liked Pumyra a lot pre-finale. Snarf’s cute, he reminds me of my own cats. And I really love how all the characters are designed.
The art style is very reminiscent of the old Rankin-Bass style, like when it comes to the detail of the fur and the claws on all the characters.
Aside from characters, I also kind of like how some of the show felt sort of 80s, but not necessarily in a pop-culture reference nostalgic kind of way, but more in the art style, music, and plot. Just as an example, the episode “The Forever Bag” really reminds me of an 80’s kid’s adventure movie like Hook. And the music is very reminiscent of Star Wars and Indiana Jones at times. The series always kind of felt like a Spielberg or Lucas adventure film to me, and I’m pretty sure that was deliberate.

Also the color pallet for the show was cool and different then anything else I remember seeing .
I liked the show’s color pallete as well. It was appropriately undersaturated.
Everything, quite frankly, the new show had the old show beaten in a lot of ways, actually. (only my opinion)
Nobody in the show was perfect, and not only do they have to face down the bad guys while finding the power stones, they had to deal with each other and try to cobble together a family of friends that at times caused more tension than the aggravating search that they were on.
There were more than a few, not only dangerous enemies, but added tot hat, they capable and rather competent too. I just love the fact that they threw in a couple of new villains who just wanted to be evil, so evil Mumm-Ra felt they were repulsive, I can only applaud it.
Then there’s the nods to the old school show, and the humor. There was plenty there to capture the imagination of younger fans who might otherwise be uninitiated to the mythology, but wonderful references to the old series that diehards would get and appreciate, like the hook to a favorite song.
The ThunderKittens finally got a backstory, and it made you admire them even more.
