I was looking at the “Rise in New Members” thread and am now appalled at the thought of being “new blood.”
Wishing I could get Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” song out of my head. Depressing lyrics but the tune is so darn catchy. “I heard there was a secret chord that David played and it pleased the Lord, but you don’t really care for music, do you? It goes like this: the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift. The baffled king composing hallelujah.”
Well, I like how Zack Snyder used it in Watchmen! 
Haven’t seen Watchmen, didn’t hear good things about the movie.
I’m feeling groggy after taking about an hour nap after eating dinner. Ah, Mondays.
Right now I’m frustrated because I’m working on a post for “Caption the Capture” and I keep getting the message that it’s too short. :mad:
Why don’t you write a statement like - “That’s my caption!” That should fill up the minimum requirement.

Got my copy of the new game Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I’ve played the demo, and it’s an awesome game! The GameStop where I went just happened to be near where the developers’ (Big Huge Games) office is, so they came out to celebrate the release! They had a tailgate section where they served hot dogs and cupcakes. Designer Ken Rolston was also there, and he and the other developers autographed my copy…along with copies we brought of the Elder Scrolls games Morrowind and Oblivion, which he also worked on. We also met some of the people who worked on Big Huge Games’ earlier titles: Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends, and they signed the copies I had of those games too! 
I also bought a copy of the new Van Halen CD, A Different Kind of Truth. It’s really good! It’s great to finally have David Lee Roth back with the band again!
I’m looking forward to next weekend when Slithor and I go to Farpoint.

I’m revisiting a classic game from the '90s that I missed out on the first time around called Jagged Alliance. It’s a turn-based strategy game in which you can hire and then control a group of mercenaries to accomplish your objectives. The first game had you assisting a scientist and his daughter in protecting their medicinal sap harvesting operation from an evil former colleague. The second has you helping a rebellion on an island nation by helping to overthrow their evil queen.
Part of the game’s charm involves the mercenaries themselves, as they each have their own unique personalities. Some mercs won’t work with others, and others may decide to abandon you during the game based on things you do or don’t do. When you add all that into some good turn-based strategic combat, it makes for a fun and interesting game.
You can get the first and second games and their expansions on GOG.com. They’re dirt cheap (as with all their games there). So check it out.
I also got a really great app for my Android phone that lets me watch old Horror and Sci-Fi movies. I remember seeing these movies as a kid back on the UHF stations of shows like “Creature Double Feature.” And of course some of them have been featured on “Mystery Science Theater 3000.” So needless to say, I’ve been having a blast seeing these old movies again. The Thundercats panel at Farpoint was a success! We had some good attendence and audience participation. Extra special thanks to NineTiger and her husband for coming up and co-hosting. And even if we didn’t always agree on certain things about the new show and the old show, we were still respectful of one another’s viewpoints. We also got some great tips from her on our writing. Let’s do this again!
