I just got done changing the wheel cylinder in my rear drum brakes. What should have taken about an hour to do, took four hours because I foolishly removed the parking brake like I was supposed to but it took me forever to get it back on. Oh before that, after I installed the new wheel cylinder, I accidentally cut the rubber boot on it’s piston while I was getting the brake shoes back on. After screaming a few obscenities and I nearly started to cry, my husband took over and we put a new cylinder on. He actually removed the hub to make it easier to put the shoes back on. Getting that parking brake back on was a two person job because the spring is so strong, one had to use needle nose pliers to push it back while the other quickly attaches the brake shoe.
Needless to say, I smashed my knuckles in the process of holding back the springs. Atleast we know what to do for the next time. We didn’t bleed the brakes yet because it got dark and I still want to inspect the other wheel cylinder. If the right one is just fine, I’m not going to bother it. I’ll just bleed the brakes and go on my happy way.
As frustrating as it was, it was still a good learning experience for me. 
I now know how to repair rear drum brakes.
Well today I mowed my yard, did 5 loads of laundry, washed the dishes (by hand), took out all the trash, and cleaned my bedroom. Then I went to an evening party at a friends house. Tomorrow, I shall rest from my labor. Have a happy Labor Day! 
I just watched “Song of the Petalars” and “Journey to the Tower of Omens” again. 
For the past 2 days, there’s been water seepage coming from the utility closet and Slithor and I don’t know exactly what’s causing it. Also, it looks like I’ll have to save up about $200 to fix my laptop because it’s been running @ about half the speed it should be. :mad:

That reminds me of when I lent a copy of one of the chapters of my fanfic to a co-worker and then lost touch with him. It had a great scene where Lion-O is talking with Tygra and Panthro about how trivial marriage seems in light of the conflict with the Reptillians. When his older friends start to mention duty, he talks about how ironic it is that neither of them have found anyone either.
Turned out the problem was from the condensation pipe that our and everyone else’s water from the AC units drains into. The maintenance guy came and blew air through it, which undid the clog.
At this point, I’d say our carpet is pretty much ruined. Between this, the hot water heater busting and the cat pee, I’d say we don’t live in a condo; we live in a cesspool. The carpet behind the futon especially smells mildewy. So there’s really no question about it now; we need to replace that carpet. And sooner rather than later.
I’m cursing my rotten luck. Hopefully I can talk to the complex manager and convince him that it’s a building-wide issue and we can get the carpet replaced for free, like we did with the carpet in our bedroom.
Currently bouncing between the local news sites, Facebook, and the TV. There’s wildfires burning about 7 miles to the south of me and 10 miles to the north. Central Texas is one big tinderbox right now.

Right now, it’s pouring rain. MD is getting the remnants of Hurricane Lee, apparently. It’s too miserable to go out under ANY cirumstances. But fortunately, we’ve got plenty of entertainment options. On the PS3 I downloaded Elevator Action Deluxe and the Neo-Geo games Magician Lord, World Heroes and Art of Fighting. On the Xbox 360 I downloaded Mortal Kombat: Arcade Kollection. I’m also about to wrap-up Fallout 3.
But best of all, I just got the new Blu-Ray release of Scarface! “SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!”
I’m sitting here completely dumbfounded. I’m happy, sad, confused, shaking my head, and kicking myself at the same time.
Just saw that one of my MOC ThunderCats that I sold less than a month ago was sold by the buyer for about double what they paid for it. Even though I made out like a bandit, I see now that I should have done reserves so that the Buy-It-Now option would have remained up longer.
Thinking I should eat dinner but I’m so stinkin’ tired that I just want to go to bed.
Sometimes its better to skip dinner and get a good night’s sleep.
Nice to write to the sound of rain, not jack hammers. However, I’d like the rain gods to dial it back a bit for those in flood prone areas.

Without wanting to go too deep-and-meaningful, today was a sad day for me, as I went along to the airport to say goodbye to someone I love very much - a special person who I haven’t seen for 3 years but who’s been over from Australia visiting her family (who are also friends of mine)…
They let me tag along to the airport with them, which was very kind given that I’m not (nor sadly have I ever been) her boyfriend or anything like that, and I’m really proud of myself because I didn’t shed a tear until after I got home (albeit it was a herculean effort)!
I’ve thought about this person every day for the last 5 years and all year long I’ve been really looking forward to seeing her again, it’s kept me going through some dark times this year (family health troubles, etc.)…so yep, feeling low right now. But, I’ll perk up - if there’s one thing this person has taught me, positive thinking is very powerful, and you’re only beaten if you believe you’re beaten.

I ended up taking a 20 minute nap, felt better, ran out and grabbed something, then went to bed.
