I like my desktop. Laptops get too hot for my lap. Or I guess they call them Notebooks now.
I was playing hide and seek with my sanity, but I finally found it. I am thankful for my job but sometimes they ask for a lot and when there’s a shortage of employees, it just adds stress for everyone.
I use a desktop/iPad combo. I primarily use the desktop at home…playing games, watching videos, and such. The iPad travels with me…it recently replaced a pretty old laptop.
I’m watching a House rerun, eating leftover Thai food, and doing laundry. Who knew adulthood would be this fascinating?!
Thanks for making me hungry. Although I don’t know if I’ve ever had Thai food. I’ve had Chinese, Japanese, Philipino, Vietnamese, Indian, Meditteranean, Italian, German, and Mexican though. One of my best friends is fond of trying every kind of cultural cuisine, though she likes and can tolerates spicy foods more than I can. Anyhoo…
I like your friend. I’m hard pressed to name a cuisine I don’t like; Americanized Chinese ranks pretty low though.
Thai isn’t too much of a stretch from Vietnamese or Indian. Their curries usually are soupier than Indian curries, often with coconut milk. Coconut, lime, and/or lemongrass often feature in a lot of their dishes. Peanuts are pretty common as well. I always recommend massaman or yellow curry, pad thai, and Tom Kha soup to newbies.
I’m not sure what the difference is between Americanized Chinese and not. I eat at Chinese restraunts in America but I don’t know how authentic they may or may not be. I did have an authentic Chinese meal served by Chinese people once when I was in southeast Asia but that was many years ago.
I’m guessing that “massaman or yellow curry, pad thai, and Tom Kha soup” are not very spicy? The one time I tried Indian, my friend helped me pick something she didn’t think was very spicy and it was a bit much for me. I have worked up a slow tolerance for spicy foods over the years, but it’s still not the best.
Anything goopy, sugary, or super MSG laden. I’m fond of Dim Sum (think dumplings and steamed buns) and Sichuan Chinese (which is really spicy).
Many Thai restaurants will adjust the spiciness to order, but the dishes I listed usually aren’t too bad. I admit that my idea of spicy is probably off…I heart hot sauce.
Glad to hear it. I’m so happy that it mellowed out to a Tropical Storm before it made full landfall. I’ve been through a few and they’re never ever fun.
Home after telling a bazillion customers the same thing, “Yes, there is a service outage. No, we don’t know when it will be restored. But we’ve got technicians working working 24 hours to make sure everyone’s service is restored as quickly as possible. Yes, thank you for calling.”
I’m in chat now. So hit me up. I could use some conversation.
I’m getting ready to head back to WV, assuming Irene hasn’t trashed the roads here in Rockland County, NY where we stayed for the weekend. (Yes, some friends and I came to NY on hurricane weekend. We had made these plans months in advance!) We didn’t even lose power here in our hotel, though.
But wow, I’m looking at photos of where I used to live in NJ until about three years ago (and it’s also the same neighborhood I grew up in) and it’s a mess. I never saw it that flooded! On one hand I don’t envy the guy who bought my old house, since I’m guessing the basement flooded to epic proportions if the road is washed out as I saw in pictures. We never had more than a few inches in it in the 30+ years that house was owned by me or my parents. But on the other hand, I feel like I dodged a bullet!
Also, hoping my former neighbors are okay. The woman who used to live across the street from me was very nice and her property was on the river. Her basement flooded in normal storms.
Figuring out the complexities of setting up a home recording studio. Got the equipment, just need to construct a sound booth of some sort, and getting my MacGyver on. Ponder. Ponder. Hmmmmmmmm…

I just got home after having my morning class and working out at the college gym for over an hour. I’m finally in a great gym routine where it’s starting to pay off. I go there on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I spend about 45 minutes lifting weights on different machines, each one designed for specific groups of muscles and now I got to increase the weights a little bit, about 5-15 pounds depending on the machine. Meaning as an example: I can curl 35 pounds now or leg press 40 pounds. I was instructed that you have to increase them slowly or you could end up injuring yourself.
Then afterwards I did 20 minutes of cardio on the treadmill. My personal trainer told me to get my weightlifting done first and then afterwards, do my cardio. The weights will tone my body and the cardio will melt off the extra weight quickly.
I’m working on finishing chapter 1 while listening to Slithor talk about the new Jakalman. The pics of him look a lot more menacing and doglike than the OS version.
