Just an FYI:
We’re moving some of the more mature themed topics over to this thread’s sister in the Void to help jumpstart that thread. Just trying to keep the boards family-friendly while still allowing folks to discuss whatever is on their mind or going on in their life.
I’m upset this morning, because a predator attacked and killed more of my chickens. We suspect a raccoon. My favorite rooster is the only survivor from his pen, and he’s got serious battle wounds this morning. Glad he’s a tough old bird and was able to fight for his life. Wish me luck at the vet when they see him this afternoon!
Hope the old bird has a speedy recovery. If you need tips on trapping, let me know. I’ve had success trapping predators in the past.
I don’t even have access to the Void and I told some stuff that was rather deep. How do I get access there? I used to have access a year ago and then all of a sudden it stopped. Now they want a password. Umm, what I said was rather personal and I would hate that it moved there with others commenting on it and I can’t reply.

Sounds more like a fox could have done that. All the same, I’m sorry. Hope the rooster will be okay!

Thanks, guys. We have some have-a-heart traps that we’ve used in the past. We caught raccoons and a skunk the last time we used them, about two years ago. This one has me stumped because it had to be something that could climb over the fence without damaging it, but big enough that it can lift the roof of the coop (the only way into it, as the door was still locked with a brick in front of it, like we leave it every night). Something attacked the hens during the day the other day, too, when I lost another hen and my rooster took a few lumps then as well.
I hope I don’t lose any more birds. They may be farm animals, but they’re pets to me. I have another pen with a rooster and hens (I have two pens because the roosters will kill each other if they get the chance. They hate one another!) and some ducks, too. I’m going to turn those coops into bunkers if I have to.
I used to raise ducks, geese, chickens, and goats. I know where you’re coming from. To most people they’re just farm animals, but they do have personalities and can become quite tame.
Hard to tell what it might be.

Notice any tracks? I am thinking fox or coyote. Too bad you don’t have a trap camera. At least you could get a definitive answer. Sorry for your losses.

Eagerly awaiting the opening of the new Gino’s here in Towson, MD! 
If you were alive in the 1960’s or '70s, and lived in either MD, DE, PA or NJ, then you might remember Gino’s. It was a fast food chain started by Baltimore Colts football player Gino Marchetti. They had their heyday in the '70s, but started going into decline in the '80s, and by the '90s they had all gone out of business. But last year they started making a comeback, starting with a new store that they opened in King of Prussia, PA. The new one they’re opening in Towson is the second, and they plan on opening many more. So far business is booming, and I fully expect the new store to be mobbed.
They have a website here. I personally can’t wait to get a Gino’s Giant after over 20 years.

I am currently wearing new shoes. Yay! You can never have too many shoes.
