I’ve always wondered this. Which came first? I know Thundercats aired after he-man already started, but I’ve heard it was created before. Just curious.
Also, the 2 are very similar in some ways. Do you think Thundercats was influenced by He-Man, or vice versa?
From what I understand, Thundercats-concept was created around 1983. The toon-show aired on 1985.
He-Man was developed in 1981/82 with toon coming out 1983.
Don’t really know if they were influencial to one another. As for similarities, what precisely are you talking about?
The idea of a chosen hero with an powerful weapon is a classic theme in tales, magic-science aspect is used in fantasy all the time, and the teaching of kids-method was used a lot in 80s; MotU/Thundercats/Turtles.
