So I founda website to watch the original series and I discovered something.
Episode 2 lacks ALL background music and leaves the entire thing with a rather CREEPY and DISTURBING vibe especially when inside Mumm-Ra’s Pyramid and when Lion-O fights him.
That was an issue with the original release on DVD. I do belive it was corrected for future releases. Not sure if it was an NTSC only thing, but it was talked about online at the time. They may well have done a disc repacement service to rectify the mistake, but I’m not certain.
hmm maybe but it sure changes the atmosphere of the entire show.
I had a similar problem with episode 5 of King Arthur And The Knights of Justice when I downloaded that show last year. All the music was missing, and it’s just not right! What’s really a shame is that this had to happen with the first really good episode of that show! There’s not many episodes of that show that are really outstanding, but episode 5, Assault On Castle Morgana, is definitely one of them.
Here’s an old thread I dug up. Confirms what I was talking about. DVD’s recalled, and an NTSC only issue.

Huh wow. I guess whoever uploaded the episodes to that site had one of the missing background music DVDs. Glad is was only a DVD issue and not some prank on the creator’s part to make episode 2 into nightmare fuel. lol
That incident led to the first-season ThunderCats music, as well as the show’s sound effects, to be inadvertantly leaked, as stated in a video by Kregermeister.
speaking of which. Mumm-Ra’s theme is epic.

Most of the music for this show is. My personal favourite is the Thundertank theme. Perhaps the coolest bit of incidental music ever written. Tygra’s and Jaga’s theme are pretty awesome too, and not heard enough later in the series. And let’s not forget Cheetara’s theme - that’s up there with the best of them.

Even if some of it is downright goofy. The peril music in the show kind of makes things seem less of a bad situation and more like pretty soon somebody with a clown nose and big shoes is gonna be on the scene soon to smack lion-O in the butt with a big stick. lol sorry.

You mean the music often heard when the Mutants suddenly appear out of nowhere attacking in their vehicles? I can sort of see what you’re getting at here.
