Just got an email from the Animation publicist at Warner Bros.! Email received as follows:
Hi Neil
I am the WB Animation publicist for “ThunderCats” and I wanted to send a introduction. As I know you are aware, we have begun rolling out some info on the new series and, as we move closer to an eventual premiere, I would love to see how we can work together. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Winson

I’ve just sent a reply off, and I plan to keep the team up to date on this and any developments made in this thread Here’s my reply:
Hello Winson,
First of all, many thanks for contacting me. I have to say that myself and all of the team working on ThundercatsLair.org are extremely excited about the new Thundercats and we all feel it’s great that there will be something for both old and new fans with the relaunch! I’m especially looking forward to Bandai’s take on the classic 80’s cartoon series with their 8" figures!
We would love to work with Warner Bros. on publicising the new series as much as we possibly can. We are happy to post all press releases to our front page, however we are currently unable to access the WB press release website (I think we tried to sign up, but were unsuccessful)
If you have any other promotional ideas we can help with, don’t hesitate to ask. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we want the relaunch of ThunderCats to be an huge success, so we can enjoy the property once again as long as possible!
Once again thank you for contacting me and I look forward to working with you very soon.
I’m not sure if anyone else also got the email? I’m assuming not since it came to my neil@ email address and it was actually addressed to myself (though the thought crossed my mind that it could have been sent to a few team members and Winson just changed the name on each reply…)
This is fantastic news! After a really crappy day this is the best thing I could have logged on to read!!
I didn’t get this e-mail either - they’ve obviously picked you out, Neil, because you’re now the Site Admin. Your response is excellent and I can’t wait to see what they say!
So you didn’t pass my details on? Odd that they chose me otherwise…
Anyway I posted up the press release I just got and the images from it. Also removed all TNI links to the Classics Lion-O and replaced them with the link to our hosted image of the same I don’t wanna be sending anymore traffic TNI’s way
Here’s the response I got with the press release details:
Awesome! There actually isnt a “official” Warner Bros. press site for television…yet. I do send out blasts though so I’ll make sure you’re on my list.
This is gonna be a fun show to promote and we have tons of ideas already so we’ll be in touch.
They didn’t contact me Neil. I had contacts with Rita Cooper, who I guess is in charge of the entire public relations at Warner Bros. But as long as the site has a correspondent, that’s all that matters
I went ahead and posted up a link to the press release on this site’s Facebook page too! We switched over to the new version of the site just in the nick of time, as I was able to link directly to the specific news story with the press release and figure images!
Fantastic news. Glad to hear they’re potentially onboard with working with us. We’re fast becoming the website for discussion and the latest - which is really amazing. Just need to keep it up - and keep Warner Bros. sweet. They’re not the nicest bunch, though, from our past dealings.. so a careful eye must be placed. We can’t just be posting their press releases - we need to do journalism of our own.
What do you mean? At the end of the day my main priority is to support the relaunch as much as possible. That’s all that is important as we are and always will be a fan site
Oh, yeah, absolutely. I didn’t mean anything bad by it. But with these publicists, they end up trying to get you to do all sorts. I’ve had a few weird experience with publicists that refuse to give me the people I’m looking for, instead looking to have people interviewed who have a book to be released or something. One of them was a decent interview - the other, well, was awful. Never got the client I wanted.
One publicist actually tried to get me to interview her regarding a book. Don’t think so.
My point is just that if the publicist is expecting us to post their press releases, word for word, we shouldn’t. But it’s a moot point, I suppose, considering we already know that.
I notice that Toy News International are getting lots of images of the new ThunderCats figures (including Classics Tygra) - should we post some of these up on our own front page (given that they’re all TNI-watermarked) or wait for Winston to send pics our way for our own use?
Hi Neil - I’m checking with my consumer products group and either they or I will send it over later today
Will forward the email when I get it Chris

Thanks for your time and please let me know if you have any questions!
All the best,

I’ve posted all the info up Chris, as I presumed you’d be in bed by now and I didn’t really want this news to wait until tomorrow afternoon UK time I grin and bared it with the Tygra
I’m not sure if that email is generic and she really will answer any questions…but I’d like to submit a couple of general ones to open lines of communication up with Bandai. So is there anything folks want to know?
I think “Will the toys launch in the UK and Europe and in what time frame?” is an important one… anyone got any ideas for others?
Oddly enough the article I put up seems to have miraculously been amended…maybe Mumm-Ra has been up to his old tricks? Shame he didn’t let me in on his plan…
