Hey guys! Not sure if this is the right place but need some help identifying this figure. I’m curious if this is a Soft head version Bebop? Through my research I’ve found that the first Soft heads had made in china on the back of the card but in small print. This one has it in bold print. But the sculpt sure looks like a soft head. This the only pic on the listing so I can’t see if there’s a seam on the head. And the seller won’t return my message. So just curious if anyone enlighten me on this figure
My best guess is that it most certainly looks like a soft headed version. I say this because if you look at the brown part of the head, it is a slightly lighter shade and not as shiny as the brown of the body.
I would agree this definitely looks like a soft head version to me also mostly due to the large gap of the neck. The hard plastic head sits far closer to the neck joint.
Happy to help! I think the easiest way to distinguish between the soft and hard headed Bebops is the seam in the middle of the head. Hard headed ones have while the soft head does not have it.

It was hard to tell due to the pics he had listed haha collecting vintage TMNT can be confusing lol I’m trying to get all 10 back figures with soft heads minus April and Foot soldier. The more I research the more I’m learning there are so many variations and different manufacturing locations that can tell you how early the figure is. And I thought TC was confusing this is worst lol
On a side note. I recently won a few 10 back soft heads with fan flyer and I noticed this on the back. I’ve never seen any of the card backs with this sticker over the manufacturing info. Almost like the factory made an error but it’s on 2 figures I won. Just curious if anyone’s seen this ?
Collecting these old vintage toys is always a daunting (and expensive) task, especially since there is so little info about them. Unlike today, back then action figures were just toys, for kids, and the manufacturers probably never dreamed that they would be so popular even after 2 - 3 decades.
I’m not sure but weren’t the soft head ones the first to be released? The hard head versions were released later. At least that’s what I remember reading somewhere.
I am not too familiar with the TMNT toyline, but I have seen similar stickers on some ThunderCats MOCs. It’s not a factory error but just a way to save cost to reprint a new backing card with a different factory info. Like most of the LJN ThunderCats had “Made in China” written at the bottom. So if some were made in Hong Kong or Taiwan or Mexico, they would put a similar sticker like the one that you have in the picture.
If you want more info on the TMNT line, I would suggest that you try “thetechnodrome” forums. That is THE place for any info on anything TMNT as there are a lot of TMNT collectors there.
Wilycub is correct there is also more of a sheen of the plastic heads.
I preferred the plastic heads on action figures as the softer rubber heads got dirty and the paint rubbed off easier through play.
As for the stickers, more recently back in 2015 after the Hulk Hogan scandal, the WWE toys had any packages advertising his action figure covered over with a WWE sticker.
Thanks for the help again guys! That makes total sense about the stickers. It wouldn’t be cost effective to replace the whole card. I’m thinking you guys are right with that. Yeah and it’s just like the vintage SW line , the toys were made to be played with, broken then thrown away haha not for collecting.
If only we could go back in time and buy a ton of vintage SW, Thundercats etc haha
Yeah I agree. I’m mostly into rebuilding my TC collection. But I also want some of my other childhood favorites as well. And TMNT is one line that I adored. I had the figures, van , sewer - sadly my mom gave it all to goodwill :((( but like you said they are still relatively cheap and it’s not too stressful on the wallet as TC haha, which makes it even more fun to collect
I kept all my childhood toys and through college and after leaving and joining eBay I amassed a MASSIVE! collection of toys from nearly every 80’s cartoon and movie you could think of lol. But after a few years I decided to sell of the vast majority of my toy collection..
I sold my Thundercats collection in late 2014 as the plastic on the majority of them was beginning to degrade and get very soft and sticky and quite a few developed mould spots.
In a lot of ways I wish I had kept them.
The only vintage figures I have now is my Bravestarr collection, some vintage TMNT and a box of some Transformers, Star Wars, M.A.S.K and other miscellaneous childhood toys.
I also have a small collection of some newer action figures. What I have now would probably only be about 2% of what the collection was LOL.
