It’s not a surprise that many fans of the show were disappointed that we didn’t get to see more of Tygra’s mind powers, especially after that lame excuse they came out with. Being the Tygra fan you all know I am, it really bothered me. But something happened this week.
I’ve been watching my DVDs (to answer a question Wilycub asked me) and came to “Day of the Eclipse”. There, Tygra and Cheetara are working on CatsLair, doing some maintenance work, when Tug Mug and Red-Eye arrive. Tygra and Cheetara then run to the forest to divert the Lunataks from CatsLair.
Tygra of course confronts Red-Eye. He turns invisible, but Red-Eye uses his special vision and “sees” Tygra standing by some bushes (it’s a holographic vision of course, so he sees a multi-colored silhouette). Red-Eye then tosses one of his discs at Tygra, but the disc passes through Tygra. Red-Eye looks surprised and just as his disc is returning to him, Tygra shows up from the bushes (indicating he’s been hiding in the bushes) and destroys Red-Eye’s disc next to his eyes, blinding him.
Could this be a second episode where Tygra used his mind powers, making Red-Eye see an invisible hologram of him while he was really hiding?
The animation could have made it clearer, but unless Tygra is also invincible when he is invisible, I think his mind power is the only explanation. Good catch!
Having just watched this episode again recently, for the first time since 2009, I think that’s probably what it is too. I can’t think of any other explanation.
In the continuity order project for season 2, I have been watching them in the order as listed on page 5. I’m not entirely comfortable with everything yet, but some of that could just be unfamiliarity with the later series.
