So, I’ve been thinking on this topic a lot, and I see many people here have many different theories, so In just brought here the ones I found, but there might be more (sorry if I left out somebody’s theory).
Which one do you think is correct? Is Anet vision to be taken literally, or is there a second lecture on it? Do you have one of your own?

Personally, I don’t think the vision is to be taken literally. I think either Tygra will betray Mum-Ra (pretending he’s taking his side), or it will be Mumm-Ra disguised as Tygra… I voted for the latter though
I voted other. Tygra will betray Lion-o, and that betrayal will come from his soul and be a true betrayal, not a gimmick. Everything he has suffered to date will fuel it. He will destroy himself by this, but he will also remake himself with the knowledge he has gained from his dreadful action: that he does not want to be King, but rather, he only wants to be what he has always been destined to be, and play a role far greater than the one he had coveted. In reaching for this goal, he will right his wrong and willing pay any price he has incurred for his original betrayal
Just a thought. It would be how I would write it given the setup.
Lion-o and Tygra have alot of classic conflicts- they are brothers, and they are fighting (openly or not) for things that have usually set brother against brother: a woman; favor of a father; and finally the big whopper- power (i.e. the sword of omens/the throne). Tygra covets all these things, and it makes a fertile ground for betrayal. I see it almost as inevitable at this point.
Please someone tell me that this friday they are going to show the conclusion. Just wondering because it’s the holidays stateside.
The elephant said that in the Astral Plane, thought itself is formed into reality. Now that Lion-O has been told that Tygra will betray him according to a vision that never fails, he enters the Astral Plane worrying and expecting Tygra to betray him. This either warps the Astral Plane so that Lion-O thinks that Tygra betrays him, or it pushes Tygra, who is already struggling with his own thoughts, to actually do it.
Interesting theories Nine Tiger and Cappuccino. For some time yestarday I thought of Cappuccino’s theory, but forgot to include it in the poll, so I’m glad you brought it over
One reason I don’t think Tygra will actually really betray Lion-o, even if he wanted to, is because Tygra holds very high Claudus’ image, and I don’t think he would do anything that could make his father (dead or alive) feel embarassed or disappointed of him. Besides, Lion-o is, after ll, the son of the cat that took him as his own son. Not to tell that he knows that, because of Mumm-Ra, his father and everyone he knew and loved are dead.
The reason why I think there might be a real betrayal is simple: the 2 weeks hiatus after the upcoming episode (I think Balgus said the next episode will be aired on Dec 16… my birthday ), so I think the producers will leave fans with something to look forward.
I took the Third one. Feels like Mumm-Ra will feel their “anger” towards each other and will probably use it to make them fight each other. Probably by taking control of Tygra (like the Majin style in DB) or he disguise himself as Tygra to fool Lion-O.
Some of these cause i don’t want “Mumm-Ra’s increased power” to be “battle power” in the next episode. I would like it to be more mental.

mumm-ra snuck in. they don’t know he’s there.
i think they will get separated, mumm-ra uses the vision to his advantage (cause he overheard the prophecy) to seed distrust. lion-o finds the real tygra again after and confronts him. and mumm-ra swoops in to get the stone while they fight each other.
I chose the vision has a twist. I think Tygra will do something under Mumm-ra’s manipulation but he will fight and break out of it. Sure he resents Lion-O sometimes, its only natural in these circumstances but he loves his little brother.

Sure its a bit on the cheesy side but what can you do.
Though I do wish to combine the twist option with the thoughts and feelings option. I think it would be really cool to see Tygra get all of it off his chest and then come to the realization that hurting Lion-O is not what he wants at all. He just wants to feel comfortable with himself and the position he has in his family/group.
maybe- but good person or not, Tygra has weaknesses and issues regardless. Can’t see Mumm-Ra not exploiting this to force the two apart, and I think it would make a better story. The idea of Mumm-ra masquerading as Tygra, and Tygra not having any thing with “the betrayal” feels like cheating. I want to see the rivalry addressed, and for there to be consequences. Hope the writers won’t hold any punches.
Yes I do like Tygra (for the record) and I like the way he’s flawed. If he were perfect, it would be boring as h2ll.
Yes Tygra does love Lion-o but the worst fights are usually between brothers.
the way i see it is flawed or not, troubled or not, outright intentional betrayal is out of character to me. i know it’s not the OS anymore but the original tygra represented integrity. if there is a real actual betrayal from tygra it should be unintentional.
We’ve already seen Mumm-Ra impersonate a Thundercat to gain the upper hand so that would make sense. An actual betrayal would be out of character and only make fans of the show dislike the character.
I think he’ll “betray” him emotionally, like maybe in the Astral Plane Tygra’s feelings/thoughts about Lion-o will form into another Tygra and start to tear him apart (like using his “relationship” with Cheetara as proof that she isn’t interested in Lion-o, saying Claudus died because Lion-o wouldn’t say anything about the vision, etc). I doubt Mumm-ra will have any part in this. And Lion-o told Anet he didn’t believe that Tygra would betray him in the first place.
And more importantly, kids usually don’t like bad guys. Less kids would want to buy Tygra toys!
I’m not sure the writers would want to risk bringing the wrath of OS Tygra fans down upon them by having him actually betray Lion-O for real. Or maybe they don’t think the character was popular enough for anyone to really care if he turned evil? This is all very exciting!
Now see I think Tygra will betray Lion-O and then eventually betray Mumm-ra. I could see either the two arguing as they enter the Astral Plane and Tygra making a sudden move (this would make it rather obvious that his whole “face heel turn” is a ruse, since it would take so little for him to turn “bad”). On the other hand if the two get separated and the Astral Plane itself or the Astral Plane and Mumm-ra both begin to mess with the minds of Tygra (and perhaps Lion-O) ; his betrayal at the time might be more sincere. He will probably have a change of heart after leaving but be a bit tormented.
Though I somehow doubt he would entrust Mumm-ra to give him power like Grune seemingly has. I would guess regardless that Tygra would plan to take the stones at some point and make a power play. Now if he went to a darker side , it would be out of pride and thinking it was his rightful place even though the sword didn’t choose him. If he was still on team Thundercat, it would obviously be just to get them back to the team and perhaps earn brownie points with his lady love (or perhaps gain some points of redemption if he did actually betray them).
Like I said, it all being a ruse wouldn’t be a surprise. Considering how many people like the character.
Chatting with my coworkers last night during our break Tygra’s betrayal was brought up. One thing that would be cool was Tygra leaving for a while going on his own and on his travels coming across other thunderians, most likely Lynx-O who’s appeared and/or Pumyra who’s been confirmed to appear.
The possibilties of what could be done with him leaving and coming across others are many, if this route is taken what they could come up with could be very creative and fun.
i’d be worried about the writing if tygra splits from the group. would we have tygra solo episodes? 3-4 episodes in a row without a mention of him like they did with mumm-ra? or would they try to somehow split an episode into two stories (one for tygra and one for the group)?
Tygra splitting from the group ?I hope to god that doesn’t happen. We all know this is the Lion-O show so if he isn’t even in the group, he’d be lucky to get part of an episode ever 6 or 7
