Quite a random comment, however I’ve just noticed (having owned him for 20+ years) that my Tygra (old) doesn’t have any paint on the side of his head (ie the stripes on the side of his hair. It’s all just the orange plastic. I keep seeing pictures of the model, and have only just noticed why they don’t look the same. Is this a common variant?

I have a Tygra like that as well. I believe it is a foreign variation.

These Tygra’s were mostly released in Europe, they often are packaged on German/English cards.
Almost all the “Main-land European” Tygra’s have the hair on the side painted but no orange noses, exept the French CosmoCats releases.
And then there’s the Tygra with the dark green paint apps and the one with the straps on the bottom of his feet. And the E.L version. And of course Young Tygra.
