I’d be up for it
Ok then, here I go. I made a list of my fav Tygra eps, not only because he could have an important role on them (we all know that didn’t happen frequently given how producers underrated him, as most of the Tygra-centered eps were to show him in trouble and in need to be rescued), but also because I think he had some of his finest moments on those eps. Also made a list of my least Tygra eps.
I will start with the OS Tygra, and tomorrow will post the NS Tygra list.
Top 5 Tygra eps
Garden of Delights: definitely my fav Tygra episode ever. I know for some people this ep drew him as a weak character with an addictive personality, but for me it was great to see so many sides of him for the first time. And the fact that he overcame his addiction towards the end (when he pretended to eat a fruit) was good.
Trial of Mind Power: even when the animation was bad, and I never liked the fact that his mind power was never mentioned again (before or after this ep), I think it was the best trial ep. Tygra had no considerations to Lion-o, testing his greatest fear as no one would ever do, but at the same time knowing it was all to make Lion-o the best Lord of the TCs he could be. The whole mystic atmosphere of the ep was great too.
Trouble with Time: creepy. I felt really sorry for him in this one, but the episode was really great. Watching him aging, then feeling sorry for himself, fearing for his life as he had never done before (not any TC to be fair) broke my heart.
Fireballs from Plun-Darr: again, a great episode with lots of Tygra on it (and again, even if he spent 3/4 of it trapped in a cage, held by the Mutants or attached to a deadly machine). The fact that he decided to go last by the end of the ep because it was “his mission” talks a lot about his responsibility, loyalty and courage (for those who say he was a coward in “Sword in a Hole”, which I don’t think he was).
Out of Sight: I liked that Tygra finally got his chance to save the day, even though we didn’t get to “see” him doing it.
Top 5 Tygra moments in a non-Tygra centric episode (Tygra’s moments that pass unnoticed for many)
Wolfrat: the fact that he brews the potion that turned the TCs back to their normal size was another way for him to save the day, and we know he didn’t get lots of them.
Divide and Conquer: two main reasons. a) he saving Cheetara (again, he didn’t get as much chances of helping others as to be helped), and b) watching him riding that giant bee as a cool motorcyclist was amazing.
Pumm-Ra: again, watching him risking his life to enter the Lair was good, but it was even better that, for the first time, he defied Lion-o although respectfully. Also, he was the one to confront, and defeat, Mumm-Ra before the others get to the main control room.
All that Glitters: granted, he broke the SoO, but how cool was it? And then he was anointed as the Lord of the TCs if something happened to Lion-o. Music to my ears.
Monkian’s Bargain / Day of the Eclipse: “Monkian’s Bargain” may not have been one of Tygra’s biggest moments, but his battle against Monkian was great, way better than Cheetara and Panthro’s (who btw fought Monkian together and were defeated easier). As I see it, Tygra had a big chance to win the combat haven’t it been for the stupid idea of the Thunderkittens to retract the bridge and make him lose balance. Regarding “Day of the Eclipse”, I liked that he finally found a way to bit Red-Eye.
Bonus: “Chain of Loyalty” / “Mad Bubbler”: terrible eps, I know, but watching him confronting the other TCs and not getting his ass kicked as easily as I expected when the action started was good (I really feared they will have Panthro and Cheetara defeat Tygra first), so we can say he gave up a good fight. Hey! He even did good against Lion-o until he used his dam sword lol

Bottom 5 Tygra episodes/moments (from worse to not-so-bad)
Safari Joe: hated his “weakness”, hated how easily he was defeated, hated that he didn’t think on nturning invisibel from the start (ok, not his fault but the writers’).
Mongor / Superpower Potion / Mumm-Ra Lives - part 5: again, in these 2 eps he was defeated kind of easy, especially in “Mumm-Ra Lives”, where Red-Eye bit him in less than 10 secs, and Tygra didn’t even get a chance to fight back (even Pumyra got to dodge Chilla’s attack a couple of times). As for “Mongor” and “Superpower Potion”, I hated how the villains in these ones mocked him after beating him. Another thing that made me mad about these 3 eps: Tygra was the first TC to get captured.
Turmagar the Tuska: this actually was a good ep for Tygra (he was in it a lot, he was the one who helped Turmagar, he drove the tank, ahd he gave a good fight against the pentapede), if not for the embarassing vampire-siren episode.
Mossland Monster: the only good thing of this episode is that he showed up after a big hiatus. But we know he screwed it big time in this ep. I wish they could have made a better ep for his return.
Crystal Canyon: again, Tygra in his worst. Buit I liked that eh got to save Lion-o and Lynxo in the beginning, that he got to overcome his addiction and defeat Alluro, that he confronted Lion-o as no one, and that he got to reveal many “dark” aspects of himself, as well as his shyness.
Bonus: “The Spaceship beneath the Sands”: him getting trapped in that net, being bullied by the Mutants with those sticks was not of his finest moment. But the yell he gave when Cheetara was rinsing the glue out of his neck was hilarious.
Must say I always liked Tygra’s interactions with Cheetara and, as annoying as Snarf could be, I liked it when he shared moments with Tygra (“All that Glitters”, “Eye of the Beholder”, “Mumm-Ra Berbil”, “Crystal Canyon”); for some reason (maybe Tygra himself); I enjoyed the Snarf-Tygra moments more than the Snarf-any other TC the most.
^ Great list.
I think both Tygras are such great characters. For me, the Tygras are fun to watch because of the ways that they handle their vices, even moreso than when they act out of their virtues.
For both these characters, but particularly NS Tygra, I think their internal struggles made the show more interesting than the main plot at times.
In any case, I don’t know the OS as well, so I’ll only list the few I know, and focus mostly on the NS episodes and scenes that were cool:
OS
The Slaves of Castle Plun-Darr
A team episode, but showcased Tygra’s role as a gentle teacher.
Included some of his best known quotes about the meaning of rules, and freedom, and why one should help others. Also, his stealth attack on Monkian through the grass was awesome.
The Garden of Delights
Not my favorite episode overall. But Tygra’s ability to pull himself out of the fruit’s influence was a defining character moment.
NS
Legacy
I loved the opening scene where the team has a moment to rest while Lion-O studies the Book of Omens. Panthro sleeps. Cheetara spars with the kittens. What does Tygra do to relax? He doesn’t. He familiarizes himself with his new weapon to ready himself for more war! Nice insight into the character – always duty and discipline with this guy.
Journey to the Tower of Omens
Liked the scene where Tygra redirects Lion-O to go after the book instead of stopping to try to rescue Cheetara. Establishes Tygra’s role as the logical tactician and foil to Lion-O’s emotional and reactive approach.
Forest of the Magi Oar
Loved the scene where Lion-O throws down the gauntlet to declare his interest in Cheetara to Tygra.
Tygra’s expression is hilarious. He is somewhere between being bemused and offended by the idea. Tygra doesn’t bother to respond, and never actually agrees to a competition. I found the love triangle silly, if for no other reason than Lion-O seemed to be the only willing participant.
Ramlak Rising
Not my favorite episode. But I thought this was a first character surprise for Tygra. I didn’t expect him to be the one to want to take in the Thunderkittens. Also makes the scene in “Soul Sever” where he references the kids interesting. I’m guessing Tygra wants his own family.
What Lies Above Part I
The flight competition was probably my favorite Tygra scene so far, if only because I assumed his character had been ruined and reduced to butt-monkey by this time. A welcomed surprise.
Between Brothers
Another great character episode for Tygra. Such melodrama, but the emotional depths and surprises make it worthwhile.
Native Son
Such a great story. For me, Tygra is the most well-developed character in the NS so far, and the stories around him are engaging. I think Cheetara, and to some extent Lion-O both need their own Native Son. I’d like to see more of Lion-O’s earlier back story and development so that his choices make more sense.
Haha - I almost forgot my favorite Tygra LOL moment
Journey to the Tower of Omens: Close that mouth…you’re drooling

My most favorite Tygra episode…where he drinks the Love Potion and then he is all “I WUV EVEWYBODY!” I don’t dub it love potion, I have dubbed it Care Bear Juice. Ho Lawd, I laughed so hard.
Lol I thought you said “banging” :eek:x3
