We need to start a list of adjectives on how good this was for Tygra and by proxy, for Lion-O.
We’re getting an idea of how Tygra works and what makes him tick. Hard work = rewards. It’s probable that’s something he got from either before he was adopted or even from Claudus- which would support his bitterness towards Lion-O.
Also, he holds himself accountable (running to Claudus). And he does have a LOT of negative feelings. He is definitely not the ‘perfect brother’ presented in the premiere. Imperfect characters = progression and amazing arcs. I’m so hype!
And I’m getting hype for Lion-O too. Because really, he needed to up his game a long time ago. If he could ignore his responsibilities in the kingdom and pursue a hobby for as long as he did (this is not entirely negative; he stood up for his beliefs, it came in handy in the end etc.) then yes, he should expect to be bested by the one that’s been ‘paying attention’ the whole time. And he had better learn from it.
It’s a wonderful set-up between the brothers. I think it’s unique - but I haven’t been able to catch much tube/movies- and their relationship’s progress is the thing I’m most looking forward to in the series.
In Tygra’s defense, it’s not like Lion-o has been the perfect, flaw-free brother either.
He’s been aware of Tygra’s jealousy for a long time and did nothing about it (he said it loud and clear), he knew Tygra was the one paying attention and acting up to his role as a prince while he didn’t and still balmed it on him because of Claudus’ apparent preferences towards Tygra, etc.
So yes, Tygra wasn’t Mother Theresa, but Lion-o wasn’t either. If anything, “Between Borthers” jsut got me a little more annoyed with Lion-o. I was expecting that, just like Tygra, he also exposed his dark side, which he didn’t but neglected it playing the victim role to his mean big brother.
He could have been more sympathetic to his brotehr (“I see…”, “Guess you’re right in part…”, “I understan how you feel…”). or could have acknolwledged his own jealousy, but he didn’t.
No, estamos de acuerdo por seguro por la parte de Lion-O. It’s one of the things I’m annoyed with too, but as a young person, and ‘the baby’ (because yeah, Claudus isn’t warm, and fluffy, but the boy was spoiled somehow) Lion-O continues to point to himself as the victim. True enough, but as you said, he’s contributed to the problem on his own, even thru inaction. And since he IS to be the leader, he’s going to have to take initiative- well-thought-out- not-shoot-from-the-hip kind of initiative.
And since thusfar, he’s been presented as the one with the most-open-mind, I’m impatiently waiting for him to get this. But the patience will be worth it! I hope I don’t seem like a Lion-O basher, because I’m really not; I just have high expectations for him.
My fear is producrs will leave everything quiet for a while, as if the conflicts between the brothers were solved.
I could be wrong though judging by the look they sent each other just as they got in their feet when teh Astral Plane exploded.
But you’re right. Lion-o’s mistake was his inactive position, because he, as a leader, should be more active and make the first move, not whining on how bad others are to him, but try to understand them and solve conflicts.
The conflict wasn’t resolved IMO. It was just put on hold while business was taken care of, and priorities were made (Lion-O’s safety). And this is one thing that endears me even more to Tygra. How strong, how much discipline does a person have to fight against their own selfish inclinations to do what is right? That is something of love about these bros; Tygra and Lion-O are so real, in that their actions really personify human behavior, without a ton of exposition.

How can anyone compare the two? And what he says about Tygra. I tried talking some sense into these people but it seems this guy has everyone who views his stuff brainwashed cause the second I posted everyone else started jumping down my throat about how I know nothing and Tygra is just as bad if not worse then Sauske.
Just laugh it off Collector, it was a bold move for the writers to give Tygra flaws that make him realistic, I like Liono’s flaws too for the record, I’m not always happy with either or their actions. A few people are SO Team Lion that Cheetara choosing Tygra is REALLY rattling their cage, or they cannot get over the fact that this is not TOS Thundercats that some people are so angry they are foaming at the mouth about it. I just think its weird that so many are crying foul about it all and saying Tygra is evil for being a jealous guy, gosh Tygra is pretty similar to me I believe you should have what you earn and I don’t think I’ve ever been remotely thought of as evil though I DO take defeat more gracefully than the tiger. I loved the original Tygra and was pretty sure he couldn’t be replaced in my heart but I love this new Tygra just as much BECAUSE he’s flawed. You have to remember a character as awesome as Tygra is rarely loved by all of fandom, in fact Tygra has many popular qualities that often divide fandoms.
Doesn’t upset me too much I’m too happy celebrating Cheetygra and Tygra not going evil, I just shrug and say ‘oh well more Tygra for me, though now I have to share with Cheetara, bummer.’ If I weren’t so mature I’d go and tease them but I’m just gonna keep doing my happy dance here! YEAH!!!
I know. In the IGN site, after the recap for “Between Borthers”, mostly every comment points out what a prick Tygra is, and how tired they are of him, and that they can’t understand all the Tygra love that exists out there.
I guess some people only see one side and can’t watch “the whole picture”.
Because I think that was another message of that episiode. The “whole picture” thing wasn’t only about finding the Spirit Stone. I think Lion-o had to see the whole picture regarding his brother, not only what Tygra apparently did or wanted to do, or what Anet told him, but the whole picture. And that he will have to see the whole picture in everything from now on (like he should have done -and didn’t until the end- in the previous ep “The Forest of Magi Oar”).
@Tygra_Rules : How can you be tired of a character that’s had maybe two dozen lines of dialogue? And you’re right, these folks really are short-sighted if they can’t see that Lion-O is going to surpass Tygra, and that their conflict now is only building up to that crowning moment of awesome when he does.
@TygraStripes : Wise words. Because when I saw that macro, I was first like, “FFFFFFFFFFFFF” And then your response calmed me down. This is the coaster ride that is fandom. And is it somehow normal to not become jealous? Noooo it takes effort to combat selfish thinking. I think both of the boys have feelings of entitlement - they are princes after all, how much for them has really been prohibited from them? Lion-O was even allowed to pursue his ‘silly dream’ when he really should have been focusing on his lessons as heir apparent. Both of them have problems; Tygra’s are just a little more obvious because he is not afraid to stomp all over Lion-O’s toes. He’s been doing it for years.
The creators I think have done a marvelous job thusfar in giving kids something they will like and be excited about, and something us adults are also able to sit and analyze. I want more character development of course (POTC 2 and 4 were my favs), but we can work with what we’ve got.
Lol, not “TBTP” (as you said), but “TPTB” = “The Powers to Be”, meaning producers and writers and stuff.
I’d also prefer it if that ability is natural and not whip-induced. In the OS, even when he used the whip, it was hinted in some eps that he could turn invisible without the whip (althogh it was confusing as sometimes it looked like as if he couldn’t without it).

Oh hey, idea que tengo: What if, just to make the romance seem a little less contrived, that Lion-O and Tygra were both getting mixed signals. there was some sort of scene where Lion-O kinda “whines” to Panthro about it, and Panthro is like “Are you blind? She could’ve been clearer bout it,yeah, but the signs were there” and then points out some instances that Lion-O just completely ignored (via BRIEF flashbacks, or in a brusque manner, no me importa). I think it would help Lion-O again with his perspective adjustment, and serve as segue for the audience’s shift in attention to not just Lion-O’s continuing growth, but the others’ as well. I dunno, do you get that?
Yeah, I get you. But I’m not sure that Pantrho would have been paying attention to that kind of stuff. He might have considered it teenagers stuff lol.
The look on Liono’s face when Cheetara chose Tigra over him was priceless… but the look on Tigra’s face was even better. Because as soon as she started talking about how she remembered the gift he gave her when she was a kid… he grinned as though he knew he was going to hit that by the end of the night!
