anyone else having problems with this link? My computer plays the Martha and Emril commercial fine but then stops.

it still works for me, but for some reason the whole video seems to have to load before it plays.

actually it may be just me, but I also see Tygra as a darker character in general. I love the voice actors first reaction to reading the character- “man this guy’s a ____” LOL! That was pretty much my reaction as well. But I’m glad the writers did that because it gives the character room to grow.

What intrigues me is what Matthew Mercer said about coming from “a place of rejection” and saying something about his family… did he mean his tiger family, his lion family, or both? 
That would build up an interesting character no doubt.
Thanks for posting the YouTube video! That was fun to watch. Larry Kenney is just a funny guy. And I was impressed with Matthew Mercer, that’s the first interview I’d seen of him. I do wish they had had a microphone for the people in the audience to ask questions. I couldn’t really hear what was being asked.
Tygra Rules, from the way it sounded to me, it sounded like he felt a rejection from his adopted family. I think that’s an easy feeling for kids who were adopted to feel and why so many have to find their birthparents so that they can feel a sense of knowing who they really are. At least it every adopted kid I know and have heard of all seemed to go through that. That rejection might feel even stronger now with Claudus dead and only his younger brother who resents him, if resents is the right word. I’m not really sure what the right word would be to describe Lion-O’s feelings towards Tygra. It feels rather complex.
I dont think Lion-O resents Tygra. They just bump heads, lots of siblings do.
But if TYgra is feeling insecure about his place in his adopted family, then maybe his insecurities lead him to believe Lion-O resents him.
I agree about the adopted thing. I used to live next to adopted twins and they always wanted to know more about where they came from. Where their families originated from and what not. Im sure its not the same for all adopted kids,but I know I’d be curious as well.
Yes, many adopted kids feel rejected by their adoptive families, BUT in many cases (not always, depending on how things happened), they also feel rejected by their original family, the one that abandoned them, not understanding why they did so and thinking they just didn’t love them. I guess until we don’t find out how things happened for Tygra, there is still a possibility that he feels his Tiger family rejected him as well.
I dunno. I thought it sounded like pretty strong resentment when Tygra asked Lion-O in the premiere when he was going to grow up and Lion-O’s response was, “When I do, I hope I’m nothing like you.”
^ I thought it was just something said in the heat of the moment. He was actively trying to hurt Tygra/ **** him off and so he said something rather rude.

I do think it was just said to tick him off. I think I recall saying something similar when called out like that. Though I’m not doubting there are some long-time negative feelings there. I think the two low-key support each other too much to truly resentful (Tygra actually following Lion-O’s orders when he really could have made a stink about it; Lion-O looking relieve to see his brother hadn’t fallen to his death). Of course, I’m not saying they don’t have their issues; these were made clear in the premiere, but they’re at least smart enough to put sibling rivalry on the back burner to survival.
I definitely agree with you. His character was established almost as surely as Lion-O and with less screentime. And anything else I was going to say has already been said (still reading previous pages), but my biggest concern now is: I can see everyone else’s goals, some of their motivations/dreams/duties etc. But I haven’t really gotten one for Tygra yet. Do you think that might be an issue later on or a point of conflict? As in literally he feels displaced, has no goal or purpose to work towards; before it was ‘be better than Lion-O’, what is it now? Where do you see him at the end of the journey?
Interesting points, Rae. We did know though (thanks to Balgus ;)) that tehre is something planned for Tygra, we just need to be patient.

I don’t think before it was necessarily to be better than Lion-O but to win Claudus’s approval , perhaps to feel like he belongs in his adopted family.
I agree that he doesn’t seem to have goals right now but I do think he feels he has a purpose which is his place fighting alongside the Lord of the ThunderCats - Lion-O, as much as that might annoy him.
I like Tygra feeling displaced and without goals. I think that makes him relatable to a lot of people. I know I have a friends who get bothered that I don’t have clear goals for what I want in the future. So I get him in that way. You just keep doing what you do because you really don’t have a clear sense of going in a different direction.
I think that Tygra has the same main goal as Lion-o, Cheetara and Panthro has, to do what needs to be done to be able to defeat Mumm-Ra o co once and for all and avenge King Claudus, Jaga and Thundera.
Right now his purpouse is to help and protect his brother and the others if need be and in general contribute with his skills to the team whenever he can. It’s not an “entire life purpouse/goal” but it’s what he seems to have to go on right now, what he holds on to.
I speculated about the possibilities of his future goals, one of them could be to when all is said and done, help his brother find possible other Thunderian survivors (maybe some were taken as slaves, who knows?) and go back to their home as the official second in command and help rebuild. It all depends on how the character arc plays out.
Personally I think Tygra will end up as a General like Panthro and Lynxo. Someone has to take Grune’s place right?
I hope he gains a greater purpose than just being a general. He comes from a place of nobility.
We can’t say that for sure yet. We don’t know where he comes from.
I meant the fact that he is the adopted son of Claudus and was apparantly adopted when he was young. He was raised as nobility and a member of the royal family. I don’t want to see that taken away from him.
