Thanks for posting these.. i have to say they look `better´ than I expected them to.. Still dont understand why they have to be aliens, but we´ll just have to wait and see :slight_smile:

I can understand that filmmakers have to “update” the story to match the current time-frame but I’m not sure if making such big changes to the Turtles Origin story is a good idea.

Many successful films have been made based on comic and cartoon characters and their origins have almost always been left unaltered. Superman always came form Krypton, Spider-man was always bitten by a radioactive spider etc.

Making the Turtles aliens, to me, is like saying that the Thundercats were originally animals (Lion, Tiger, Panther etc) owned by an Egyptian Pharoah, and Mumm-Ra throws Mutagen on them turning them into humanoid cats. I guess the show would have been called “Teenage Mutant Warrior Cats”! :smiley:

As far as I know the whole ‘Alien Origin’ is meaning that the beings / technology that creates the TMNT is alien…which is basically the same origin they have always had. Not that the TMNT themselves are aliens from another world. Although I could be wrong…that is just what I have took from all the information on it that has come out so far.

I must say I like the fact all 4 turtles have unique different looks.

The look is much more “human” looking to me. I am not really sure how I feel about it thus far.

Have any of you been watching the new tmnt cartoon? What is your impression of it? Also has anyone checked out the retro tmnt figures that are out?

I have actually. I must say I like it very much, it’s quite entertaining. I love what they did with the new look and feel of the show (even though I wasn’t a big fan when I saw the first images of the show before it aired). I also like how they successfully re-introduce well known and loved characters from the TMNT universe in a new and fresh way every few episodes.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s the best iteration of the TMNT to date (that’s still a tie between the original Mirage comics and the first movie in my opinion) but it’s pretty close. :slight_smile:

I also own all four retro Turtles. They look pretty cool! Haven’t decided whether to open them or keep 'em in their packages… I have that problem a lot… :wink:

The new TMNT show is great…well I have only watched the first season so far, I have not seen any of the second.
When you say retro do you mean the reissues of the original 80’s figures or the larger more articulated Classics ones like MOTUC?
If you mean the classics they are very nice figures with loads of articulation. Very good toys all round…however be careful with the QC as my Donatello had his right forearm on backwards. I have also heard that the Bebop and Rocksteady figures have problems, Rocksteady especially. If you can get them at a good price they are worth it but have a good look at them before you buy.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I did catch a few episodes of the new cartoon. Overall I really enjoyed it. As was mentioned I enjoyed it introducing some of the secondary characters I remembered from my childhood. The only thing I am not sure about is how some of the characters are more teenagers as opposed to their adult counterparts from the original.

As far as the toys, I was referring the the reissues. I saw them in toys r us the other day and was transported back to my youth. My wife and daughter thought I was nuts :smiley:

I haven’t got any of the current reissues but I have some of the reissues they did from a couple years ago and they are great. I may get some of the current reissues to complete the main character roster like Krang and Baxter. Also they have reissues the van/Party Wagon…that would need to be bought. Also according to news from Toy Fair this weekend they are going to be reissuing the vintage Turtle Blimp. :smiley:

Well now that the trailer has been released I can say I am looking forward to seeing. I am not a fan of Michael Bay’s work but it’s TMNT and I am a TMNT fan so it will be interesting to see how this turns out. :smiley:

I took a look at the trailer yesterday and have to say I am not thrilled with what I have seen thus far. I will still probably see it when it comes out, but was hoping for something else I guess.
