Thunderclaw variation?

I just got this Thunderclaw yesterday and I couldn’t figure out what was different with it and I finally realized that it did NOT have the wheel on the bottom for rolling, instead it’s got some other piece over it. I’m guessing it’s a foreign version, but i have no clue as to what. the first picture is of the one i’m talking about and it has different marking than a “normal” American version it reads:

My understanding is that the one with the wheel is the US version, while the other one is the UK version.

AlexofThundera is 100% correct.

I don’t think the UK/Euro version came with the two rubber black pieces either.

ah ok thanks, so i guess i need to buy another Thunderclaw for my collection -.- is there any other differences in US and UK vehicles that aren’t posted in the toy archive here?

I have to disagree at least regarding the euro version. The ones sold ´round here had the rubber pieces. Mine is from the Netherlands and has them, too. And I´ve bought it MOC in my youth so I can tell for sure :wink:

Maybe the UK Versions didn´t have them I can´t tell

Not sure. The one I have was MISB and is a Rainbow Toys release (but I think inside the box might be instructions in German)

I’ll have to double check as I might be getting it confused with my Hovercat…

Does anyone know how those rubber things attach to the claws?

I got my Thunderclaw as a kid and I have always had those rubber claws laying around in a box of toys. I knew they had to go to it but I never could figure out how the went on there:slythe:

I’m not at all trying to be smart here, but does the instruction booklet say what they are for? I am curious as to why apparently the Thunderclaw came with pieces that don’t seem to fit anything. :roll:

There’s gotta be some logic in there somewhere. Unless they were just like “Hey Roy, we’ve got all these unused claw things, what should I do with them?” “Ahh, those, just toss them in with those Thunderclaw things, it’ll drive the kids nuts!”.:stuck_out_tongue:

I never got to actually see them until around 2001 when I got a US boxed Thunderclaw.

Mine from when I was a kid didn’t have them, so I never had the chance to wonder about them down the years.

As for instructions, I don’t think they make it very clear :frowning: Infact you can view the instructions here:

They tell you where they go, but they don’t really stay in place :confused: Who knows… lol

When I was little I got the non-wheel version in the USA. So no… it wasnt a uk thing :smiley:

As a kid, I bought mine new at K-Mart, and it was without the rolling wheel on the bottom. I no longer have it. I have since bought one on ebay, and it was without the rolling wheels as well. I also noticed that this one has the rubber claws and they are attached with two screws each - to hold them on. I am pretty sure my one as a kid had the claws too, but I can not remember having to install them - they were just there, I think.

The one I had (picked up from Ebay in 2000ish) had a wheel and the black rubber tips. I made my own by taking the one without the wheel and switching it with the black tipped wings. Suits me just fine.
