ThunderCatslair.org Promo

Hey guys, I have been working on a little something to help promote the site. I am producing a minute or so long promotional video with all of the things our site has to offer. It will cover the Cartoon Section (Episode guide, Encyclopedia, Animation Art) Toys ( Toy Guide, Variations etc) Comics (Comic Guide, Original Art etc) and promote our forum and news offerings.

I am just under half way and have a preview to show you all.

For some of it I have re-drawn parts of the ThunderCats Introduction (to avoid copyright issues) Below are a few of the drawings I have done for the animation. Something like 200 frames of animation have been re-drawn. So this is no small task.

ThunderCats Promo Draft 1

Oh my bloody goodness this is so incredible.

Your best work so far in my opinion Kyle. Fantastic!

Wow…that is freaking amazing. :jaw:

So THAT was the surprise you were talking about!! You never cease to amaze me Kyle!

I’m really just awestruck!

WOW! :jaw:

That is totally amazing and actually makes the site look very impressive! You have some major talent Kyle. I love your work, but you know that already

Are you planning to put this up on YouTube etc…?

Thanks for the comments guys, just the kick in the ass I needed to get this finished lol..

Yeh Neil the main thing we can do with this movie when complete, is add it to sites like youtube, facebook etc and get some attention.

More to come

Chris here…

Kyle, you make an old man very happy! Your work is just the most amazing thing ever, and to actually re-animate the first few seconds of the opening titles - wowsers! :jaw:

We’ll have to catch up on Skype/MSN sometime (Neil too if he’s reading this) - things are totally mad for me at the moment, log on to www.willowsfolkclub.org for the latest disaster, and don’t get me bloody started on my (non-)love life - but, I am still pottering with stuff for the site as and when my time allows, and hope to have an update to the Episode Guide to show you guys in the not too distant future!

Take care…

Chris here…

Hey gang, just wondering if we ever did anything with this awesome promo that Kyle whipped up??

Take care…

Hey Chris..

After all the hard work of putting this together.. I ran out os steam when it came to chasing the Youtube site information. With Neil back around hopefully he can post the information for this to allow us to get it out there at last..

Kyle

Chris here…

Thanks for the info, my friend - I must admit, it would be good to get this out there, even if only to post on our forums. So much of your hard work went into it, it would be a shame if it was only us on the team who saw it!

Take care…

I will add it to my todo list this week to get a page built for the public facing site… then proceed to youtube etc in time.

Cheers for raising interest in this though Chris..

Chris here…

My pleasure, Kyle my friend - like I say, 'twould be a shame to let it go to waste!

Take care…

For those that didn’t see the final video… here is a link

Dang, that’s incredible. I don’t think the voiceover w/ Larry Kenney at the beginning works well with the video & the music - the ‘HOOO’ at the end does, though.

it was a suggestion by mark I seem to remember to add the voice-over.. I like it with and without..

Just wanna get it out there now!

Yup it was my suggestion… what about releasing this on the forums along with a poll to see if people like it with the voice over or not?

I personally like it with the voice-over

Are we going to put this on youtube and sites similar to youtube?

Chris here…

I think the thing about the voiceover is that it adds a bit of “credibility” to the site, if you like - that the voice actor who played Lion-O has (at least apparently) given the site a thumbs-up, and that’s why it works well in the promo IMO.

I believe that was the original plan - I actually thought this site had its own YouTube account, but when I looked up the clip that Neil uploaded, it was actually on his own personal account: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgArjRcgYdw:slight_smile:

Maybe something to think about would be setting this site up with its own YouTube “channel”, that material of interest could be added to? In addition to the promo video, in the past we’ve been able to rip some video clips that are unique to ThunderCats Lair that could get the site some more exposure if added to YouTube - the biggest thing is that the video clips may need “watermarking” (like the one of Neil’s above). What do you guys think?

Take care…

It’s not the voiceover that’s a problem - it’s how it’s been inserted. It sounds quiet and with what’s going on in the background and such, it doesn’t actually ‘fit’. It’s a very uncomfortable edit - no offence meant or anything, that’s just how it comes across. It doesn’t belong there - maybe in the middle of the video as a ‘welcome’, not when the intro’s going on.

Chris here…

Just giving this thread a bump - did we ever do anything with this piece in the end?

Take care…

Nah, nobody posted the YouTube account information.. So I couldn’t do anything with it.

Never got much chance to do much work with the sound.. (not my area really)
If somebody posts up the details I am happy to upload it..

Hopefully I’ll get some time to do some more stuff like this in the future.

Chris here…

Hey Kyle, I’d love to see the team get ThunderCats Lair onto YouTube in a big way: http://www.thundercatslair.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3602 . You worked so hard on that promo piece, I’d love to see it get used!

Seeing this thread must’ve been one of those “Holy thread revival, Batman!” moments, huh?

Take care…
