This year the TCFandomAwards is going to win the best honour for the entire decade. That’s right I’m calling this one early.
We’ve never been that keen to get involved in these awards as they’re to be honest quite boring and the results often don’t make any sense to me. But this year there is more at stake than ever before and I for one aim to see our site voted in as the best ThunderCats site of the last ten years.
And that’s because we are the best site of the last ten years.
I’m co-ordinating the overall awards and azmom from EOT is co-ordinating the site awards. We’re going to be running facebook polls this year for the voting and the award for best overall site of the last ten years will be decided by fan votes.
And that means that we should be able to easily win. We have the largest fan base, we have the most active management team. We have the best site. We have it all.
Then invite all of your good friends and all of your T-Cat contacts to join the group. In a few days time the nominations will go up and our site will be nominated for a host of awards.
A few weeks later the voting will begin and what I’d like us each to do is ask our friends and contacts to go and vote for our site if they feel we’re the best on the net. We’ll send them the direct link to the poll and we’ll go from there.
I think we deserve this award and I aim to see that we get it by running a good campaign with our membership and our own personal networks. Let’s make this the most successful awards ever, and let’s go get that recognition for building the best damn T-Cat site out there!
Part of what makes the awards fail for me is the fact that most awards get no more than 10 votes spread between all the nominees. This year I think with more fan participation we’ll see more realistic results… ie: ones that recognize our site as the best thing going… lol
Ahh man…i think we are in the same boat, i havent been there in ages. Perhaps Manny or Chris are better at doing this. Besides, Chris is a better spokesperson than i will ever be.
Put it this way - the two of us have never really seen eye-to-eye, he took a bit of a dislike to me when I first signed up to He-Man.Org waaaaay back in the day, and the two of us have just never been particularly friendly…
We’re not mortal enemies or anything, but we just don’t get on especially well - I’ll confess I actually find him to be a complete egotist, not sure what he thinks of me, LOL!
That said, it’s never been a big enough deal that it would stop me posting on the .Org - think I’ve chalked up over 10,000 posts over there!
Hey gang, some good news and an additional motivation to make sure we get voted as the website of the decade…
Hard Hero has agreed to be the sponsor for the awards process. They’re going to donate a statue to the awards and I think it will be a Mumm-Ra.
I’ll be tying this award to the ‘Best T-Cat site of the decade’ which we’re nominated for. The voting will take place on a third party site called esurveyspro.com
The votes are limited to one person by cookie tracking and IP tracking but anybody at all can vote, you don’t need to be a facebook or yahoo member. I’d like you all to join me in promoting the voting and encouraging people to vote for TCL
If we win the award we can decide what we want to do with the statue. We could run a raffle for members of the team or we could use it as a promotional tool for the site. One idea I had is that we could enter site members and facebook members (of our fan page) to be entered into the draw but that they’d have to be members of both to be entered (gives us greater exposure with fans).
Another idea would be to give the award to whoever comes up with the best logo for our redesigned site, or to use it as payment to a professional graphic designer who just happens to be a fan.
Nope the polls will go up on Sunday (three different polls and will be wiped clear of all test votes. Once I share the link with you guys please forward it to friends, family, fellow T-Cat fans of all ages and encourage them to vote for us in all categories that we were nominated in but most especially the Fan Site of the Decade category.
Mark, you are a legend in your field, and I salute you!
Well done for all of this, and I will definitely be urging people to vote for this site as the ThunderCats site of the decade - keep me posted for when the voting goes live!
As for what to do with the statue, there are so many possibilities - for myself, if he was up for it, I’d like to see Kyle do the new logo for this site, but it may yet be worth keeping the statue up our sleeves as thanks for some fan who helps this site out above and beyond the call of duty!
Just to chip, while we are on the subject of prizes, I still have the region 2 Thundercats season 1 DVD set! So that needs giving away to one of our members somehow
What about making that a prize for the awards too? We have a ‘golden poster of the decade’ prize too that goes to the fan who has made the best posts / contribution to sites…
Hey Chris, you were carried over from last year… anybody who was previously nominated for a golden post of the year award was included in the nomination list

ANNOUNCEMENT: The polls for the 2009 ThunderCats Fandom Awards are now live and you can vote for your favourite fan sites and fan creations.
There are three sections for the awards and a link to the poll for each section is provided below.
Please click on the link to each poll and check out the nominees and lock in your votes. The polls have security features that ensure you can only vote once for each award and the really nice thing about the polls we’ve set up this year is you don’t have to be a facebook member or a yahoo groups member in order to vote. So it is very quick and easy to use.
I tried to employ good ethics and vote with honesty, so I voted for this site in every category except “Best Episode Guide”, where I voted for Angie’s site!
On the fan art poll, I voted mainly for Kyle, and threw in a couple of votes for Celesta in categories Kyle wasn’t nominated for - whatever my personal opinion of her, you’d have to be insane to argue that she’s a supremely talented artist, so fair do’s!
I didn’t vote in the fan fiction poll because I don’t think I’ve read a ThunderCats fanfic all the way through since literally 1999!
EDIT: Just to add that I shall try and do the rounds with this info over the next couple of days - particularly at He-Man.Org where I shall encourage people to vote for this site, although in case anyone from ThunderCats fandom reads it, I shall be diplomatic and say that there are many fine nominees!
Thanks Chris, I am really hoping everybody helps us win this award. Right now there is a three way tie going between us, EOT and Purrsia’s site. There have only been 13 total votes so every single vote counts in this and so please e-mail, message, PM every T-Cats fan you know and ask for them to participate, and if you’re comfortable doing so let them know we’d appreciate their vote for TCL.
