Omicron - keep me posted. We are moving, so I’ve not got a ton of time for major web projects at this moment, but when the dust settles I’ll be there. Thanks!
Will do
Is anyone else interested in doing this? I’d like to start a list to see who wants to do what.
I’d be happy to help! I’ve worked on wikis before… it’s a rather addictive pursuit.
Thanks, Thats two! maybe with all the movie buzz something might get going.
Quick update with this project. I’ve been in contact with Manny and he said TCL can host the wiki for me. I’ve got a temp thing running on my home computer while I try to design the layout/organize things/learn the software. I honestly don’t know what I’m doing yet with the software. Trying to add a new article alone has been a pain in the rear…lol but I’m doing the best I can right now. I know Purrisa is with me on this but I’m going to need all the help I can. I figure with the movie being announced and all the DVDs out and everything else 80s making a comeback its time to finally do this. It may take me some time to design things while I learn the software. I know its gonna take tons of work from me but if I can get enough help I’ll be more than willing to do as much as I can.
It’s tentatively named Thunderpedia as the moment but I’ve also though of ThunderWiki and Book of Omens: The Thundercats Wiki. Any other ideas on names? Or anything else for that matter? I’d like to set up a good team for this. This needs to be as complete as humanely possible.
Heres a short list of what needs to be done.

Anyone have any suggestions about things that needed added.
First suggestion that comes to mind is including the regular cast in the Comics section. I was already thinking of making a canonverse vs. comicverse distinction in my site’s dictionary just because, particularly with the Star issues, there were altered histories, added facts, and for some characters that appeared in both series and comics, startling differences. For instance, in the Star books, the Netherwitch is nothing like she was in the ep she appeared in, not even in looks, Vulturemen have a whole history between them and the Snowmen of Hook Mountain that wasn’t touched on in the show, and so on.
So I would not only highlight new characters introduced through the books, but revisit show characters with noted differences made to their backstories and characters. At least with the Star books, as there are more noticable variations.
Thanks. I had that distinction when I first wrote that out but changed it.
I’d like to see the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of the Cats and their weapons listed. That would greatly help somebody writing a fan-fic where the Cats had to use their ingenuity to get out a sticky situation.:cheetaraveryhappy:
Memorable quotes would be a fun addition to the wiki.![]()
And it just hit me. MAPS! A detailed, updated map of Third Earth would be a godsend. It could show where everything is on Third Earth, and where they are and how far apart they are in relation to each other. A map of New Thundera would be helpful too.![]()
Cut-away diagrams of buildings, control panels, equipment, and vehicles. You can’t very well have Panthro pushing this button or moving that lever in the ThunderTank, the Feliner, the HoverCat etc., without showing where that button or lever is, what it does, and why he’s using it. The same thing goes for the varius control panels in Cats Lair and the Tower of Omens; what button does what and where is it located on the control panel? What do the interiors of these structures look like? What and where are the various rooms, and what are they used for? The possibilities are endless.![]()
All that kinda stuff will be listed in the appropriate articles. I was asking overall is any different sections needed added or changed or any other features added
Oops, my bad! Sorry.
No prob, Keep the ideas coming though.
thezaxfactor, you still up for the challenge?
Another update. I’ve been working on this and have come up with this:

It looks a little different now but thats close. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Great idea! Can anyone find/make good detail pictures like this?
I don’t think you have to look any further than the Animation Guide Sheets posted in the Cartoon section of this website, since those include schematics by the truckload. And there’s the artwork in the French ThunderCats encyclopedia. Don’t tell me you haven’t seen any of that, Omicron! Kyle or any of the other artists here at TCL could have a field day with them!:cheetaraveryhappy:
I’ve seen the ones here and if TCL wants to include them in the wiki I would be very grateful and it would make it more complete. I have the French Encyclopedia material but I’m going to ask Purrisa permission to host it all on the site. She paid good money for it so I don’t want to put it up without permission. But are there any other detailed schematics available. The animators could have just as easily just put random buttons for him to push. Map wise is there enough information given from the show to create an accurate one. I know there was one in the old magazine but I don’t think it was accurate.
Use anything you want from my site that’s mine. I have a lot of those blueprint type images, too. In some cases, I may have higher res pics to offer than what’s on the site, so just ask. As for the French pics, this site already has them up too, so the magic of exclusivity is long gone  Go for it!
As for detailing the pics with what does what…hmm. Due to how inconsistant the animation could be - or even how it could differ from those original schematics - that might be tricky. That’s the problem with the canon. You’d have to pore over every ep and mark down what they do in the vehicles each time, and even then I bet you’d get conflicting info.
To be honest, it’s probably a wasted effort. I know when I write fic, I just remember the basics of what I remember seeing inside a given vehicle (for that, some good screen shots and those blueprint sheets would be a handly general reference) and use creative license to say what does what (I just have to remember what I claim for my own consistancy’s sake). Or often you can get away with being vague so long as what is being pushed or whatever is not an important detail to the storyline.
As for maps, that could be handy. You could even make it like an image map where you mouse over or click on it for info about the locale. You’re right, I think that Third Earth map is a bit off when compared to the show. I’m not sure anything official exists for Third Earth and New Thundera to go off of, other than that, so it’d be a lot of research - ep study, along with screen caps, to piece together a decent idea of what there is and where it might be located in reference to other places. Again, show inconsistancy may trip us up there. The thing about the wiki is we want it to be as accurate as possible.
The image maps sound like a good idea, Anyone want to attempt an accurate map?
You know what would make the wiki’s French encyclo pics have something over the other sites that have them? If we can get someone who knows French to translate the text. Maybe whoever owns the French Cosmocats site would be interested in helping the project in that regard?
Heck, if you can find someone that can translate the Japanese notes on the character sheets/blueprints, that would be sweet too.
I’ll have to think about the map. That’s an involved project and I have quite a bit on my plate as it is. I do know how to make image maps so I could link it all up when it was done.
I just emailed them.
Hosting found, Thanks Purrisa!
Thanks to Purrisa we now have a host. I would like to start adding content soon. I would also like to gather a core team to admin things and keep track of whats goin on. Any one interested?
I’ve found a map of Third Earth, though I suspect you already know about it.
