ThunderCats toys to hit the UK this December!

Today Bandai UK sent over their official press release for the launch of the new ThunderCats toys in the UK, just in time for Christmas!

RETURN OF THE CATS!

A 1980s favourite is set to become this year’s Christmas ‘must-have’ as retailer demand outstrips supply of the new Thundercats action figures and vehicles.

The retro cartoon – with celebrity fans including Jonathan Ross, Chris Moyles and Paulo Nutini – has been updated and recently released on British TV screens. The toy range from Bandai is due to hit the shelves on 1st December – with all available stock already snapped up by nostalgia-loving buyers.

Andrew Welch, Product Manager for Boys brands at Bandai UK says:
‘The new animation series of Thundercats is fantastic, with a great refresh look to update the brand for new fans, whilst keeping true to the original series. Our Thundercats product range has previewed very well with all our retailers and with very encouraging early US sales we are excited about the launch of Thundercats in the UK.’

Buying Director Stuart Grant from toy store The Entertainer said, “As soon as we heard there was to be a new Thundercats range of toys we knew we wanted stock. Thundercats is expected to reenergise the boys’ action market and be a huge Christmas seller. News from America is that it’s flying off the shelves so we are confident it will have the same impact in the UK.”

Last week Peaches Geldof dressed up as the new look Cheetara to promote the launch of the new Thundercats series on Cartoon Network, which kicked off a wave of excitement at the return of this cult classic.

The toy range will consist of Thundercats figures, vehicles and role-play items from the brand new cartoon series, as well as Classic Collector Figures of Lion-O and Tygra from the original 80′s TV show. Key items in the range include collectable figures, Thunder Racer cycles and the Thundercats most powerful vehicle, the Thunder Tank which comes complete with a Snarf action figure. The predicted top seller in the range looks set to be Lion O’s legendary weapon, the Deluxe Sword of Omens. The toys are priced between £7.99 and £39.99.

Great to see but £7.99 for the 4" figures? thats double the price theyre paying in the US

I ve got to buy 2 of everything now as my sons the right age to play with them, xmas is gonna be expensive!

I was thinking of buying my Bandai Thundercats straight from US but i see BBTS has a policy forbidding non-US collectors from ordering the Toys from their Site at present. On the other hand, i don’t mind waiting for a few months and live the experience of purchasing my Cats straight from the Toystores here in Greece. It would be a memorable day, probably i will be buying two of each figure!

Does anyone know if the UK release will coincide with the rest of Europe?
I haven’t heard anything about release in my country, there is a slight possibility the New toys won’t be released in Greece, i am afraid this might happen due to the growing demand. On top of that i am not sure if the new Show will ever be Broadcasted in the Greek TV.:lionomad:

I went to Hamleys yesterday and the guys there verified that they expect the new toyline to be released by the end of the month or very early December.

Awesome, I did ask ‘the entertainer’ and they said december the 1st, they do show the boxed thundertank in their new catalogue on the front.

Ill be there or TRU 9:00am thursday the 1st to buy lion o, tygra, mummra, grune and sword of omens for my son (me really).

I will also buy the whole set to keep moc/ mib :thumbsup:

I’ve just come back to the uk from a holiday in Florida and bought back 12 new thundercats but I could not find any 4 inch cheetaras or 6 inch mummra.

There were hundreds of 4 inch mummra n liono so I hope bandai in the uk gets the right balance.

Also smyths uk toy shop lists aload of thundercats for 1st dec release but no claw or mini sword so I got them in the USA

Soo looking forward to the UK release of these figures. I’m hoping that the change in figure type for the 2nd wave in the states doesn’t impact what gets distributed here in our releases! I personally want to get them all and I’ll be swiping the visa card for as long as I need to :slight_smile:

Yes mate try smyths toy shop online.

Only thing missing from the USA sales are the thunderclaw and the mini sword. Of omens.

Also the toy entertainer are advertising for the 1st of December but not all the toys-smyths have a larger selection

Thanks… A Smyths just opened a few miles away fom me so I’ll be there for doors opening boosting their pre Xmas toy sales by some margin :slight_smile: the wife’s gonna kill me!

Ouch!! It’s rather painful to see that total spend. I rather wish you hadn’t done that :wink:

I have a 4" Panthro already so I can leave that out and I think I’ll pass on the tower of omens and sword of omens until my birthday at end of January.

I can"t see myself leaving anything else out the basket though.

I need to raise some funds and quick :slight_smile: Anyone need their car washing? :slight_smile:

My wife is used to me collecting, the key is to make out its a “complete bargain” eg, last week:

1 moc jaga (£120) arrived, i said “its a bargain, it was only £5.00”, shes happy, congratulates me and thinks im clever…

We also have seperate accounts! i have £200 waiting for december 1st for the new figures for my son, ive got to pay double as we both want a set, him to play with and me moc/mib…now thats OUCH:yikes:

Im getting excited, it feels like '86 all over again! lol im 34 now tho:)
