That review is up just when I got mine, awesome. They go over all the awesomeness of it.
My main problem is, you have to force the joints to move the first time. I was scared of forcing them to much that theyād break.
Yeah. The joints were kind of sillyā¦but most of the figures these days you have to mess with the dang joints. The DC Universe stuff comes to mind.
Hope you all enjoy the review! A LOT of people have been knocking this figure because of the paint apps. The goofy shading aside it really is a cool figure. The price point for it, as being in line with EVERY OTHER SDCC Exclusive is about right. Many people have complained about that. I see it as this. You want a SDCC Exclusiveā¦itās GOING to be more expensive than usual. Thatās SDCC for 'ya!
And yeah, some companies are better than others. Had this JUST been a Bandai thing at the con I think it would have been a bit cheaper. But seeing as it was spear headed by TRUā¦well, thatās the big issue right thereā¦
This is interesting as I was also checking out Pixel Danās review earlier and his sample has joints that are too loose! So it seems (thankfully!) that the loose joints is an isolated thing on a couple of releases if yours and Devallās review sample have stiff joints.
I agree with Devall about the paint wash and from first impressions I prefer the regular Lion-O. However being a completist (and wanting the metallic weapons and sword stand) I had to pick this up!
Hopefully Bandai will address the issues going forward, such as the flesh coloured peg on the footā¦
Your review hits most of the points Iāve noted in the other thread. But I didnāt try to take Lion-Oās shirt/armor off even though I can easily see a gap on the sides. I am not a huge fan of the skin tone shading, but it doesnāt look terrible either. The ankle joints and hand/wrist/forearm on the other hand really make it seem like someone was asleep on the quality control line.
The more I look at it on display, the more I hate the boots. The rest of his costume looks great and a lot of shine, but his boots look dull and like he just got our of walking in a sewer.
Maybe itās just NECA and/or the Gears of War license, but Iāve not seen this before. Granted, the only SDCC exclusives Iāve gotten besides Lion-O this year are Gears of War figures in the past. Non-exclusive figures run $15-20 depending on the retailer, and the SDCC exclusives run $20 even now, except for the first one.
Nahh, you have a point mcss, about the SDCC prices. A LOT of them are decently priced. Some of them though, depending on the company are just silly.

Mine arrived yesterday and i was thrilled but just last night i noticed the joints where the foot meets the leg are unpainted. Is anyone elses like this?

Iāve had a terrible time dealing with Bandai USA about my SDCC Lion-o. I had to go the eBay route, then shipping/customs. Best part of Ā£70. The hip is loose and so wonāt even stand up. I emailed and expressed the difficulty and expense of sourcing this Bandai product and would I be able to have the faulty figure replaced, even if it was from the regular Classics line. They replied: āUnfortunately, Bandai America does not have currently have access to the exclusive figure, is not anticipating receipt of additional figures and does not ship overseas.ā
Not particularly helpful and it seems they are not prepared to do anything about their faulty product. I emailed in response asking for the CEOās office email as they should be aware of how customers are being treated and Bandai being represented. They have chosen to ignore my request.
Does anyone here know who/where and how I might contact someone higher up at Bandai, so they are aware of this poor treatment? Many thanks

Whilst I agree that really sucks, unfortunately when you import products that have only been intended for sale in a certain country, you will get companies effectively turning round and saying āSorry, thatās not our problemā when it comes to QC issuesā¦ 
In the interests of being fair, if Bandai were to produce a UK-exclusive figure and folks in the States were to import that and found a defective one, Bandai would turn round and tell them the same thing!
So yep, I definitely sympathise and hope youāre able to get in touch with someone higher up the ladder, but I can pretty well guarantee that you wonāt get any joy!

Yeah. It is kind of like importing a car from another country and finding out that it wonāt pass a safety inspection to be allowed on the road. The auto-maker probably wonāt pay the high shipping to send a new one from the other side of an ocean.
However, if you have friends in other countries, they may be able to get a better result. And the trade-off being if the roles are reversed (a European exclusive) you can help them handle any quality issues for themā¦
I received mine today and the paintjob is indeed pretty bad. I really donāt get itā¦
The sword stand and the two metallic swords are the only good things there. The people that got Larry Kenney to sign the box are going for $70-$80+ on EBay lol.
I just want them to sell the stand and swords separately. I think they would get a lot of sales.

I ordered oneā¦ just for the weapons, to be honest.
I spent a couple of hours using isopropyl alcohol to remove the paint on the arms and legs. I also cleaned off all the crap off the boots and the lines painted on the armour. I toned down the wash on the hair as that also just looked dirty. I applied a very subtle wash to the arms and legs to finish it. Now, finally Iām happy with it. They really messed up a great figure.
