Thundercats Toy Memories

Hello, New guy first post and I just knew this was where to go.
I live in a small town beside a larger town and only heard of the Thundercats figures as a kid or I saw a commercial during cartoons. I talked about them to no end and hunted for them constantly but it takes time for stuff to show in my area. My Mom worked in the larger town which was just a 10 minute drive from our house and had access to stores like Woolworths and Zayres. One day she came home and had a Zayres bag and a big smile. She said “guess what I found during lunch?” I had no clue but before I could guess she pulled out a Thundercats figure. I could only see the back but was super excited to not only see one but get one! I thanked her and she gave it to me and I turned it over to see I had…Jackylman. Now I was still super excited but was hoping for a hero cat. Little did I know but it would be a while before our area would get those. Apparently most of what we got was villains. Anyway I loved the Jackylman and would soon be getting a new figure from Zayres every two weeks. After getting most of the mutants my first cat was Panthro. That was also a day to remember. I would eventually get almost everyone except young Tygra who I wanted to use as a young Lion O. years later as an adult I did get me a young Tygra off a new website called eBay…

Great story. Please share more. I remember when I got my Jackalman. I was always annoyed he did not come with his shoulder strap LOL.

Anyone … Please post some childhood photos of you playing with your THUNDERCATS, MOTU, GI JOE, BIONIC SIX, TMNT or whatever you had back then … I looked through my photos but can’t one with some vintage toys in …pitty!

Yeah maybe including others toys as well as Thundercats on here would be a good idea.

I know I have a pic with some of my first action figure toys. I must look it out. In one photo is my M.A.S.K. Thunderhawk. I still have it to this day 100% complete with all its original pieces.

Thundercats was my first obsession in life. whenever I was asked what I wanted for Xmas or Birthday, the answer was easy, I’m pretty sure the first three I got, I think on Xmas of 88, could have been 87 but I think 88, was Lion-O, Panthro and Mumm-Ra, we had friends of the family living in the states, and I’m pretty sure the Lion-O and Panthro were sent to me from america, following that, I would get treated to a figure every so often, I think I got lots my next birthday, and any money I received would go on figures too, the new Thundercats were quite sparse to find, and bless him my dad located a store called ‘Davey’s’ in Loughton who had them in and he took me there and I got Bengali and Lynx-O there along with I think Safari Joe, Captain Shiner and Ratar-O. Not Pumyra however, I did end up with a Cheetara, just to make up the key set of adult Thundercats I guess. I do also remember a tantrum I had over Vultureman, I really really wanted the Vultureman figure, but my dad said not yet, in a few weeks, behave and you’ll get it, but I didn’t, I threw a right wobbly and it was all quite shouty, he stood his ground however and I didn’t get it. But did later down the line.

I still have every figure today, but they’ve not been well looked after, Lion-o has one leg, Bengali has no legs, no helmet for Monkian or Mumm-Ra and lots of them have paint chipped away, and not many of the weapons have survived. I had the Thundertank and Hovercat too, and one of the Power Pack. Never had cats lair unfortunately. Ah, great days.
