Thundercats Toy Memories

I remember my mom told me a story that I threw my Lion-O figure out of the window while she was driving and I got a spanking for that lol

Also at Disney world (my older brother and mother) tell me this story all the time, I was in a stroller and I took a handful of Disney character figurines then put them in my fanny pack! We walk out the store and she looked down at me playing with those toys, she tore me up! But I still have those figurines to this day lol

Last night after 25 years I was stunned to discover my Tygra was a variant. His back is unpainted. All these years it annoyed me but I just accepted that was they way they were made.
I never seen Tygra or Panthro in the shops here in Northern Ireland. My Dad had to order them from the Toymasters in Ballymoney. I still remember late one evening they phoned and told my Dad they had arrived and he said we would collect them tomorrow.

Reminds me of when my mum told me not to open my Cheetara figure until we got home. I didn’t listen and had to have my own way. Her staff was nowhere to be found by the time we got home. Cheetara was religated to a drinking straw weapon from that day on. :frowning:

LOL. I am amazed I was able to keep my staff this long. Although I will say it was a bit bent and not very straight like it used to be.

Haha I remember very similar situations to this as a chid. That car ride home always seemed like forever! Now I get to have the same conversion with my daughter haha. I can appreciate the excitement!

My brother and I! I remember that Ghostbuster cereal was the best lol

Ha..sweet :). Mumm-Ra and and Lion-O lying next to the cereal box.

This is always a fun thread to read through about everyone’s childhood toy memories.

That’s an awesome photo T-Cat.

Another story I recall is about a year after my Lion-O broke when I was 7 in '92, I was making my First Communion and after it my Mum and Dad took me to Woolworths in Coleraine. They still had a few Thundercats items in but they had A LOT of Lion-Os. Of course I wanted a new Lion-O to replace my broken one, but I had already picked Transformers toy of Scorch, who looked awesome on the art work. So I decided to keep Scorch and come back for a Lion-O another day. When I opened Scorch I was very disappointed. He was nowhere near as cool looking as the art work made him out to be. He was very small, disproportioned and had barely any articulation (just his elbows). He was a very poor toy. I instantly regretted my decision. My Mum and Dad said they would take me back next week for the Lion-O. They took me back but all the Lion-Os were gone. I did get a Safari Joe which was cool but I wanted Lion-O. Every time I looked at that Scorch toy it was a just a painful reminder of how I almost got a nice new Lion-O. If it had been an awesome toy I could have seen by it but I picked this over a Lion-O.

Thanks buddy! Where you on anyone else on this forum ever lucky enough to taste this AWESOME cereal?

In South Africa we had a crisps / chips snack called Ghost Pops that was inspired by Ghost Busters:

Not the same thing as cereal I know, but it was pretty good.

We used to have something similar in the UK called Ghosts or Ghosties and they were a smoked bacon flavour. I don’t believe they make them anymore. They still make a salt and vinegar maize snack called Banshee Bones.

Last week a shop in the city called Poundstretchers burned down. I don’t know if I mentioned this earlier in the thread but I remember they used to have a toy department upstairs and around Easter 94 we went upstairs and by chance they had a few Tuska Warriors. So I got one for £2.99. I remember wishing at the time they had more that I didn’t have like Bengali etc. and a Lion-O to replace my broken one.

Hehe … you still get those here !

I had Lion-O, Jackalman, Mumm-Ra (the Everliving), Slithe, Monkian, Ram-Bam, and Mumm-Ra’s Tomb Fortress as a kid.

I meant to ask what flavour are they?

They are like a smokey bbq flavor. Mark / Grizzlor do you remember the old packaging used to be black with the GB logo on!! Hehe was so cool!

To share a story …
I wasn’t that lucky to have a ton of TC toys like some of you, but I did have three/four (Tygra with pvc Wilykat, Slithe and Captain Shiner), back then with all the toys an shows we had, I always ended up with only 3 - 4 of each line.
I still remember having to chose my first one, it was so difficult to chose between Lion-O and Tygra, but it wasn’t to far from my birthday, so I figured I would ask for Lion-O then.
To my surprise I got Mossman (MOTU) on my bday, I was not happy, but we lived on the farm so my mom only went to town now and then, and the figures was not always available where she went. But I did get the sword of omes, which was super cool!!! So I forgave her very soon hehe! Captain Shiner was also not my choice, got that one by surprise … ??
Luckily my one friend had almost all of them, so I got to see them and play with them quite often. I still have my original Slithe, but somehow lost the others.
I have so many memories of us playing with ThunderCats, MOTU, ATeam, Bionic Six and TMNT figures, guess these stuck with me and that’s why I love these so much today still!
These toys were my absolute favourite and holding them today feels just as good as back them ; )

The Ghost pops sound nice.
It was hard to stick to just one toyline in the 80’s-early 90’s as there was so much good stuff to choose from. :D:rolleyes:

Hello, New guy first post and I just knew this was where to go.
I live in a small town beside a larger town and only heard of the Thundercats figures as a kid or I saw a commercial during cartoons. I talked about them to no end and hunted for them constantly but it takes time for stuff to show in my area. My Mom worked in the larger town which was just a 10 minute drive from our house and had access to stores like Woolworths and Zayres. One day she came home and had a Zayres bag and a big smile. She said “guess what I found during lunch?” I had no clue but before I could guess she pulled out a Thundercats figure. I could only see the back but was super excited to not only see one but get one! I thanked her and she gave it to me and I turned it over to see I had…Jackylman. Now I was still super excited but was hoping for a hero cat. Little did I know but it would be a while before our area would get those. Apparently most of what we got was villains. Anyway I loved the Jackylman and would soon be getting a new figure from Zayres every two weeks. After getting most of the mutants my first cat was Panthro. That was also a day to remember. I would eventually get almost everyone except young Tygra who I wanted to use as a young Lion O. years later as an adult I did get me a young Tygra off a new website called eBay…
