We have well over 1,000 confirmed sigs, so that’s great! My prob now is that slai, who spearheaded the movement and knows far more about the soundtrack business, as it were, is on hiatus from the internet for…who knows how long, I’m wondering about the next step.
I’m at a loss at what exactly to DO with these sigs at the deadline. I don’t even have Bernie’s contact info - it was slai and the guy that did the interview on my site that knew how to contact him. In fact, I haven’t kept up with my contacts so I have NO idea what insider contact info I have is still any good or what. Yep, been a slacking fan for a few years now.
If anyone has suggestions, I’m game. Thanks.

I’m not sure what to do about the petition either myself. David might have some ideas, and I’m still hoping La La Records, who never replied to me last year, might be interested if we show them the petition. They have released several limited soundtracks with Warner Bros. including a Batman: The Animated Series one which sold out almost immediately after its release. They seem like the most likely candidate to help!

And that is absolutely a fantastic soundtrack - I now realize that with the right push, the ThunderCats soundtrack would just do fantastic numbers. It’s a wonderful soundtrack and I really hope it does well.
From what I heard from some of the composers who worked under Shirley Walker, the head composer for Batman: The Animated Series, at Gathering of the Gargoyles convention back in August, the only reason they were able to put out a soundtrack for the show was because Walker had died in 2006. I really hope they won’t wait until Bernie is dead to release his score!

Well, I tried shopping the petition around to the more likely soundtrack production candidates (i.e. La La Land Records and Screen Archives Entertainment/SAE). Someone at SAE said they wouldn’t be able to get the licensing rights, and La La Land Records said that Warner Bros. is NO LONGER licensing out their music properties anymore?! This sounds like La La Land Records won’t be putting out any more Warner Bros. animated related soundtracks anymore either, but La La Land Records never replied back to me on this.
I feel like I’ve hit a dead end at this point until the movie comes out. I’ll see if I can shop it around more though. I’ll keep you posted!
I just thought I should update here about my confusion with La La Land Records. Apparently, they’re STILL putting out Warner Bros. soundtracks. La La Land Records recently released soundtracks for the new direct-to-DVD movie, Wonder Woman, as well as an OLD soundtrack to the original Adam West Batman: The Movie! It sounds like La La Land Records just gave me the runaround with their reply about Warner Bros. not leasing their old material anymore. Maybe they think it would be too much work to dig up the old music files spread across the Warner Archives?
Sigh, I just don’t know what to do anymore. A friend also recently commented in Facebook that people who sign online petitions in hopes something will be done are hopeless dreamers (or something to that effect. I forgot what his exact words were.). I would hate to think he’s right, but then again, he never signed the petition when it was up.
Yes that would be the most likely reason. Now looks like rather than any record label choosing to release this, it would require WB to initiative this and convince a record label to release it.
As discussed in the other thread my idea to forward the video link of the petition to WB during their chat didn’t go according to plan either.
We need to come up with some better proposal to WB or to some of the record labels. But I am not sure how .
Just a quick update for everyone. I did recently check in with the Warner archives. As I’ve mentioned before, all the tracks are well catalogued and easy to retrieve. However they all need thermal transfers from quarter inch tracks to digital. They quote $15,000 for Thundercats, which will negate the small profit a music label would make from a specialist CD release like this.
However, things aren’t all bad. Warner are transferring all of their archives and digitising everything for preservation. Therefore they will foot the cost of transferring the Thundercats music. Once it’s done, a CD release will be much more likely (as it’s only a case of manufacturing the disks) and a label would only need to pay the license advance.
Because of the size of the archives, it may still be a year or two before they get to Thundercats, however the archivists have said they’ll let me know when it’s been done.
Wow.. that’s promising news, thanks for that update Dave. Once it is digitally archived in the next two years, a CD release is indeed more likely to happen :).
Bernard Hoffer’s musical composition for Thundercats was really amazing and i would love to see an official CD coming out. I hope WB is seriously thinking about releasing it over the next 2 years.:liono
I think the ThunderCats soundtrack is absolutely amazing - I’ve listened to parts of it and it almost gives you goosebumps. I really do hope Warner Bros. release this CD soon.

Actually, I always thought the $15,000.00 quote was to put off anyone asking the Warner Archives to release anything to anyone’s custody, but small soundtrack companies, like La La Land Records, still manage to do it anyway with a few titles of their own choosing. I’m not sure how that works anymore.
Anyway, I guess it just means we’ll have to wait and see if anything new develops!
its not actually that hard to extract the music from the DVD. its a case of extracting the audio and chopping it where the voice overs are. over the course of the entire dvd collection there are all the pieces of each track without voice overs.
That’s what I was thinking as well!! Mind that it needs a LOT of time and patience… volume normalizing, full track listing and generally audio editing skills.
But I guess that it is the only solution.
Hi Sonia! I’m following you in your quest a couple years by now and I decided to talk. I have a personal “quest” too (a Lord of the Rings promo stuff) and I had started it in the same time you started yours. Unfortunately I sent a lot of e-mails to collectors, fans, companies and the only person that really could help me simply stopped to answer. It is frustrating and I gave up for now (let us see if with “The Hobbit” this material may come back). Well, I’m huge fan of Thundercats and this soundtrack must be released. I say it because it’s not just a memorabilia for fans. No. This is a rare sample of real art, a good one, in a so improbable media like cartoons. This must be released or it will be lost with the time. I know you already contacted Intrada, but why don’t you try once again? With the new cartoon coming they can be interested. Besides, they are publishing so many soundtracks now and some are really pointless! Why not?
