Thundercats soundtrack online petition!

Hello fellow Thundercats fans,

Hi, my name is Sonia. I’ve been a Thundercats fan since the show came out. I have been particularly fond of the background music composed by Bernard Hoffer, and I’ve been fortunate enough to get some of Bernie’s complete music cues for the first 65 episodes of the show via Bernie himself. I’ve been trying, alone, for the past 7-8 years to get Warner Bros. to release an official Thundercats CD soundtrack for the show.

Now, finally, thanks to fellow fan Purrsia, there is now an online petition for a soundtrack which links to my very VERY long backstory on it.

http://www.thundercatsfans.org/tcfans/petition/index.php

Please help by signing the petition! Don’t let Warner Bros. keep Bernie’s music cues lost and hidden in their archives! Let the Thundercats loose! Purrsia also has an interview of Bernie by David Crighton up on her website along, via other sources, Cheetara’s complete music theme which was only heard once on the show:

Thank you!

Sonia

P.S. I’m hoping to get enough signatures to at least convince Warner Bros. to release a limited edition sountrack for the show. Usually, limited edition soundtracks number from 500-1000, so I’m hoping to at least reach that figure! Thanks!

Chris here…

Signed and verified by me - I would be 100% behind such a project, a significant amount of my love of ThunderCats stems from Bernard Hoffer’s outstanding soundtrack and I would buy a CD release (or hell, even a “Click here to download the album in mp3 format for £7.99” release) in a heartbeat!

EDIT: BTW, Sonia, welcome to the TCL Boards! I hope you’ll stick around and join in some of the other great discussions we have going on here!

Take care…

That is a fantastic idea. The only full track I have is of Cheetara’s theme. It would be utterly incredible if WB were to release Bernie Hoffer’s score.

I so agree, E.K.! I tried signing this petition, but the site told me that I had already done so (I don’t remember when, however:duh: ).

Tygra-Wan’s November 10th post suggested that we petition Warner Brothers to have Larry Kenney reprise his voice-over role of Lion-O for the film. Which is a great idea as well! We can make it a two-pronged attack, so to speak: Petition Warners to put Bernard Hoffer’s music and Larry’'s voice in the movie! What do you say?:cheetaraveryhappy:

Hi guys,

THANK YOU for the very warm welcome and signatures :o! I greatly appreciate all the help I can get, especially after 7-8 years doing this alone.

catspat, if Warner Bros is smart, they’ll cast Larry Kenney to reprise Lion-O’s voice just as they did for Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime in the recent Transformers movie. Nostalgia goes a LONG way in winning the support of old fans. I hope they get the entire old cast together myself.

Sonia

So do I, Slai.

I’m wonder how Paramount and DreamWorks were convinced to get Peter Cullen for the “Transformers” film. Did the fans petition for that? Does anybody know?

Count me in. Imho, the audio on Thundercats was very important in bringing the cartoon to life. It should definitely have its chance to shine.

Hi catspat,

Actually, I don’t think Paramount or Dreamworks really needed to convince Peter Cullen to reprise his role. After all, he’s still an active voice actor as Disney’s official English voice for Eeyore. I remember there were some rumblings in the Transformers fandom about whom to cast as Optimus Prime’s voice when rumors were about that Tom Hanks wanted to do Prime . Thankfully, the producers decided to go with the original.

Sonia

P.S. for Alex: Thanks for signing and the support :D!

Signed.

So Bernard sent you other tracks? Wich tracks were they??

My dream tracks would be Thundertank, Mumm-ra and Feliner

No Prob!

I know. I helped do it. One of the movies producers, Don Murphy set up a forum to allow fans to give feedback on the development of the film. After literally thousands of posts in hundreds of threads, the fans (myself included) pretty much unanimously decided that Cullen IS Optimus Prime and that he should be cast.

We all know that Larry Kenney IS Lion-O, and hopefully with enough fan support, he’ll be able to reprise his role.

Well, then, maybe somebody connected with Warner Brothers can do the same for “ThunderCats”, like maybe the scriptwriter or the director. Let’s keep our eyes peeled for something like that and then we can all show WB that we want Larry to be Lion-O once again.:cheetaraveryhappy:

I have heard that sometimes movie companies will “scout” the internet to see what fans are saying about upcoming movies. (Like they did with Transformers as Eternal said above). Hopefully they will do this with Thundercats and see that we would love for Larry to once again be the voice of Lion-o. Honestly, I just couldn’t imagine anyone else doing it. It would seem a bit “strange”.

I agree, Alex. Lion-O not voiced by Larry? That would be like dawn without the sunrise.

I totally agree with you all. Larry definitely IS Lion-o! And yes, if WB is smart, they will listen to their fans… maybe we should still do a petition anyway? - I’m definitely in on this music, by the way! I rocks!

A ThunderCats Soundtrack sounds great, count me in!

I’m SO sad that the Feliner, the Lunatacs, and the new ‘action’ themes for season 2 aren’t among these clips which is why I want Warner Bros. to dig these out! Even Bernie doesn’t have them!

Sonia :frowning:

Chris here…

:jaw: LOL, I think you’ve just created a board full of very jealous ThunderCats fans! You are so lucky to have those in your collection, that’s awesome!!

Take care…

You’re not kidding, Chris! E.K. can use them to really give us a ThunderCats soundtrack of his own!

Hi Chris/He-Fan,

That’s my plan :mischievous:! I’m hoping other people here would be enticed and help persuade Warner Bros. to go dig up their archives properly.

Actually, what I listed is a SHORT overall list. Under each of the ‘bigger’ themes are specific short cuts ranging from 30 seconds to 4 minutes in length specially orchestrated to fit that time frame. Yeah, those are basically repeats of the overall long theme, but there’s a LOT of work behind each. For example, Snarf’s theme has 7 cues total, each around 20-30 seconds depending on his mood (the 7 listed are moody, comical, jog along, meanish, sad, comical (again), and top speed running). There are 3 versions of each of the Thundercats’ themes (i.e. Cheetara, Panthro, and Tygra for short intros (15-30 seconds), regular intros (1.0-1.5 minutes), and finally the full theme (2.5-3.0 minutes)). It does get repetitive, but it could make for a nice soundtrack if you just take the longest version of each.

Overall, there are 141 cues total for episodes 1-65 :jaw:, and I just listed the 60 ‘main’ ones.
